It doesn't affect my view of their intelligence one way or another. What does effect my view of someone's intelligence is when they cannot explain their beliefs and practices beyond, "So-and-so said so." Such a response will automatically get you with a little mental note next to your name that says "lemming".

I do not think a person's religious beliefs have anything to do with their intelligence. So long as they can think for themselves and ask questions and be able to understand why they believe what they do, I do not see the relevance. True their are some blind followers who will believe anything anyone says. But I think the general population of people have enough questions about things, their faith included, that they will seek the right answers before committing to that belief 100%. (Hope that made sense. I reread it and I think it rambled on a bit).

Good question! Most people I know are religiously inclined. This doesn't affect my view of their intelligence. What does affect my view of how smart one is, is the way they handle themselves day to day. For example, if they say they are so religious and spend so much time praying, yet do nothing to help themself... that has an affect on the way I think of them. On the flip side... if someone tells me they don't believe in God, yet acts in a bad way thinking they can because there is no God, that makes me think less of their intelligence as well. For me, its all in their actions. I hope I'm making sense. I hope by my rambling answer you don't think less of my intelligence :)

Since you are mentioned intelligence, it implies you are connecting it closely to an intellect. Critical thinking has a religious spiritual equivalent, is called wisdom.
