  • Not really. I was around when she brutally murdered a pregnant woman and her unborn child. She laughed about it. I see no reason to be compassionate now.
  • I don't see why not, for 6 months, what is she going to do when she is dying, hardly a threat to society...
  • I will answer your question with a question...... Should Sharon Tate be allowed to live again and enjoy the rest of her life on earth? Given a death sentence, especially in this case, is a death sentence. Sharon Tate did not have an opportunity to finish her life, so why should Susan Atkins be treated any differently? She made her cardinal mistake, so let her pay for it.
  • 2nd Answer. Compassionate grounds? Susa Atkins had no compassion when she killed two people, Sharon Tate and her unborn child. I am as compassionate as anyone, except in this case. Susan Atkins had no excuse for killing two people. Especially, an unborn child. NO.
  • against. i get that she was influenced by other people, but if you are involved in murder, you have to pay the price, no matter whether you feel bad about it, or get sick. killers don't show mercy to their victims, why should society be lenient with them?
  • She is? For what? No, seems she has a pretty easy life with her currant accomodations. What would she do outside of prison anyway? Her mother is dead, and her father wants nothing to do with her. She can stay where she is.
  • Do you think Mrs. Tate asked for compassion for her unborn child? She should rot in her cell. I hope our tax dollars aren't paying for her medical care.
  • Against. I can hear it now. . . Ummm, yeah, I murdered a bunch of people and now I am ill, soooo can I like get out of here now?
  • Against. Sharon Tate and her unborn child, and the others probably asked for compassion, too. She will get all of her medical needs met inside... Outside, she'd probably be on welfare (Who would WANT her to WORK for them?) AND, until she does die, or if by some miracle, she were cured, we'd have a Manson girl out on the streets.
  • If she's still a threat for people, leave her in there. If it's merely out of compassion, well what about her victims? Like I'm sure they wanted to die.
  • id help end her terminal problem
  • life in prison is followed by death in prison, thats the way it works
  • Her victims became terminally ill, too, but they got no reprieve. Neither should she. Tough shit.
  • She's a whack job, even Charles Manson said she was always nuts...THAT'S SCARY considering the source. Anyway, what was it she BRAGGED about saying to Sharon Tate? "Bitch, I have no mercy for you, I have no mercy for your baby, you're gonna die and you better get used to it." I think that pretty much fits here. "Bitch, I have no mercy for you! Gonna die, get used to it and Oh well..." I say unplug the pain meds.
  • No..it should not even be a consideration. How much compassion did she show Sharon Tate? How much compassion did she/they show the other victims? They should have been put to death, but since they have already been shown compassion by being allowed to live, that's more than enough. Let them all rot in prison.
  • She can barely sit up in bed, and forms three sentences a day. She is in the hospital. Her loved ones can visit her. What difference would it make? The only difference is that her attorney husband would be flipping the hospital bills (est now at $1.4 million) insead of the now in debt state of California. So, for that, release her and the medical bills. She isnt getting out of her hospital room.
  • No. Keep the lunatic away from society. My 2 cents.
  • Hell no.
  • Hell,no.
  • Absolutely not. Even if she dies in prison she will in far better circumstances than their victims.
  • If she did, you might as well leave the prison doors open...
  • No. "Compassionate" in this case would be an insult to Sharon Tate and her unborn child. She deserved her sentence and if they let her out, it would be a miscarriage of justice. She needs to stay where she is. Why are they even trying to preserve her life? Your tax dollars hard at work.
  • No. While it is a terrible thing that Miss Atkins is suffering, that still does not excuse her actions. She has lead a relitively good life in prison, even getting married, I believe that is mercy enough considering she was origalally sentenced to death. It seems to me that she seemed only remorsefull of her actions only after her death penalty was comutted to life with the possibility of parolle. I believe she said and did all the "right" things in hopes of getting out not with true remorse, but regardless of remorse she still has to face the consequences of her actions. She did the crime she must do the time.
  • hell no! i have no compassion for those that take another life.
  • Yes,she's dying of cancer and is not a threat anymore. The judgement of society should not be based on the actions of sick individuals, but on its own values.
  • No...let her die in prison. How dare Susan Atkins even think to ask for compassion! What compassion did she show Sharon Tate when Sharon was begging and pleading for her life and for the life of her unborn baby? I'm quite sure that Sharon Tate wanted to live out her life and be surrounded by her loved ones. The poor woman screamed out for her mother as she was being repeatedly stabbed to death! I hope Susan Atkins dies a very painful death just like poor Sharon Tate did!
  • Not if she's supposed to be serving a LIFE sentence.
  • No she shouldn't she gave no compassion to Sharon Tate and her unborn Baby
  • hell no, where was her compassion for her victims
  • She should have died in a gas chamber or electric chair or on a gurney with needles in her arm 30+ years ago, so no.
