  • Almost everyday.
  • I used to hang up on them all the time. Then I started leaving the phone on while they talked, I'd just walk away and let them talk. Then when I got a cell phone, the calls stopped. Gotta love that national do not call list.
  • Too many times!!
  • Always, but my favorite thing to do now is to sing Strauss' Blue Danube and press the numbers 3 and 1: da da da da da 3-3, 1-1, etc. If you don't know the melody here it is: http://www.kickassclassical.com/strauss_bluedanube.mp3
  • Cant count how many times! I hate how the act like they know you!
  • If I don't hang up on them, they're not the ones who will. Have to end it before I like, DIE OF AGING.
  • No! I wish more would call me, I love screwing with them. So many things you can do, here are my favorites... THE DUMBASS - pretend you are a complete idiot. Whatever they're selling, act like you're interested in something else they aren't selling and keep talking about it. THE GROANER - pretend you are on the toilet. If you are well prepared, you'll have access to sound effects like splashing water and flatus THE SHREW - if you have a cool girlfriend, have her yell at you no matter what you say to the telemarketer, complain about your finances etc. THE NYMPHO - if your girlfriend is even cooler, have her pester you with a sultry voice about all kinds of naughtiness as you're talking to the guy THE PERVERT - doesn't matter the gender or whatever they say, just pretend they are turning you ON. "mmmmmm, preapproved? Oh that's hot... that's just TENDER! Oh baby, free subscription, yes, yes, YES!" You must make your own entertainment in life :)
  • No. But i had one hang up on me once. Trying to sell me a phone contract. Told him i was happy with my current service and he did the usual "we can offer a better deal" and i said no, i was happy with my current deal. Then he asked me if what i paid and i refused to tell him. When he asked why i told him it was because that was my personal financial information and he hung up on me.
  • yeah but i swear at them first there all scum the only people i hate more then them are the people who nock on your door and want to talk about god!!!!!!!!
  • LOL. Yes. Once someone called and asked if I was happy with my phone billing service and I thought they were talking about my home phone so I say "I dont have a phone" "....." (lol. note to people who are dim.. i said i didnt have a phone.. over.. the phone) Anyway. I started laughing at myself really hard and just had to hang up. ~+~
  • Yep! But the best way to handle the really obnoxious ones is to keep them on hold as long as possible. : D
  • I usually say why are they calling this house, we are in a middle of a crime scene and who is calling...I get silence.
  • I've hung up, set the phone down and went on with what I was doing, said I was the babysitter, etc.
  • The more appropriate question is "Have you ever NOT hung up on telemarketer?" LOL.
  • I normally pretend to act like I know and want what they are talking about and then say well the cops are here nice talking to you. All within 30sec – 1 min time spend. I’ve heard that some get paid as long as you’re on the line for X amount of time so I try to get them off the line before they get paid.
  • All the time until I got on the "Donot call list".
  • Only if they call me yo...
  • I make them hung up on me. I usually either ask them to repeat their sales pitch a few times or act as if it was phone sex.
  • Normally I do but sometimes I wanna get a good laugh out of it...like that one time! The lady that was on the phone was clearly hispanic and her english was hard to understand. so I let her talk for about 10 minutes without interrupting her. then she finally asked me a question. I went and got out my german cook book and read 2 pages of recipes to her...in german of course. The funny thing is she actually listened the whole time and in the end she asked me in spanish if I dont speak english. I answered in clear spanish "No and I dont speak spanish either" and I started laughing so hard... She hung up
  • all the time! they don't take no for an answer!
  • Yes, after telling them not to call anymore.
  • At least 3 times a day. Call display is great. Just pick up and hang up before voice mail comes on.
  • Oh, yeah! But, since we got caller id, I don't even have to answer. Love it!
  • Politely, yes:-) I can't just hang up. My parents taught me better than that lol!! I have to say something and then I hang up.
  • I used to. Now that I'm on our Do Not Call Registry, I take long enough to get the name of their business, so that I can make an accurate complaint to the DNCR. Then I tell them that I'm registered and that they're looking at a $16,000(?) fine. :)
  • A better question might be "Have you ever NOT hung up on a telemarketer?".
  • too many times to count
  • A few times. I also got to the point several summers where I was so bored I would see just how long I could keep them on the line with random excuses such as getting parents, running to the restroom, somebody at the door, anything I could think of really.
  • I USED to. There were times I also used to listen to their spiel, then a few rebuttals when I told them I wasn't interested or didn't have the money. If they STILL insisted on rebutting my arguments, I'd usually say (when given a chance), "I'm not interested", and hang up. Now I'm on the Do Not Call list, and don't get any illegal calls. Still get the politcal crap and charity calls, but they are MUCH fewer and further between! ;-)
  • actually i used to be one for about 2 years. it was one of the easiest jobs ever. anyone want to know how to piss off a telemarketer?? if you have time, be pleasant and ask them every question you can possibly think of about the product they are selling. they will keep trying to go into the sale but keep asking questions. then finally let them start recording for final sale. right in the middle of it stop them and say "yea you know what this is just too much right now thanks for your time." then give them the hang up. it's a way better burn cuz they took time and effort into the sale and were thinking they had you. it's a game. just hanging up is something that happens 90% of the time. no big deal so isn't swearing at them. kill them with kindness. =)
  • Lol, almost every single time.........those poor people, haha.
  • Everyday. At least 5 times a day. I see the # on call display, if I don't recognise it I pick up and hang up.
  • I get them on my cell while I'm working and can't pick up. But one time I did answer because the same number had been calling repeatedly for an hour and I "thought" it was an emergency. Boy was I stupid. I answered and the guy was like "I've been trying to call you a million times" and I was like "Yeah and who is this?" He then went into his shpeal and I was soooo p-o'd. Yeah, I hung up on him as quickly as I could!
  • Yes after I tell them to F off!
  • I have. they in turn think i am rude and call me back. several times. they think they arent being rude. sometimes i just talk to them, we talk for a long time. they say that no one is ever nice to them. people are rude and say bad words and cuss them out. it is a very hard job being a telemarketer. sometimes they just call me on purpose to talk to a nice person.
  • Yes..but after telling them that I was going to hang up....BUT I actually had a telemarketer say to me after I said "I have already told you that I am not interested and I am hanging up now"..She said "but I haven't finished talking yet" ..(LOL--yes she had!!)
  • i put them on speaker phone, turn to a talk show on tv and listen to them try and sell things to a tv. hilarious
  • Yes, my stepdad used to work for WorldCom. We had free long distance. Someone callled wanting to switch our LD carrier. I told them 'my dad works for a phone company, we don't pay for LD' they said well we have really good rates I asked if they could beat free, they said, no we have 5 cent a minute, so I hung up idiot, 5 cent a minute doesn't beat free
  • If I do answer the phone and there's a 2 second pause after I say hello I just hang up because I know it will be a telemarketer. I have call ID and if I see a 1-8## nuber on the phone I don't pick it up. For awhile I kept track of how many times the same number would call and this one phone company called me 3 times a day until I answered and told them not to call me anymore.
  • Is the Pope German?
  • who has not?
  • i'm very polite with telemarketers. i can't just hang up on someone unless they're really pushing it. hey i used to be a telemarketer!
  • Yes I have, but I would have preferred to do this, listen to the video!!
  • Most of the time - but if I don't I'll put my 13 year old on the phone with them and she will talk in baby lingo :)
  • I ALWAYS hang up on telemarketers. As soon as I realize I'm talking to one, I say "Thank you very much. I'm not interested. Please take me off your list. Click. I pay for the phone. Its my phone. They are being rude by calling me on my phone to harrass me and take up my time during dinner. I'm not rude, but I am firm.
  • yes. How did you that was one of my favorite hobbies?
  • I like to start asking THEM questions. Really messes with them.
  • yes... if it is a person i at least notify them first that i am not interested... recordings get it right away
  • yep, all the time. and I shut the door in mormans and jahova witnesses faces.lol sometimes they just don't know when to shut up:]
  • All the time.
  • Yes, but I have not had a telemarketer call me (or a landline for that matter) for many years... Anti telemarketer scripts/flowcharts: http://www.ucan.org/telecommunications/landline/anti_telemarketing_script http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html FCC complaint: https://donotcall.gov/complaint
  • Better ask me have I ever NOT hung up on a telemarketer. But, not before I tell them I am on the "no call" list and will report them if they call again. Haven't had a telemarketer call for a long time now.
  • Just hung up? Never. Said I wasn't interested, please remove me from your list? Every time.
  • A telemarketer called me, asking for my ex-wife. I told her she had the wrong number and hung-up. Within about 30 seconds, she called back, said "F**k you" and hung up on me. I was so stunned I couldnt help but laugh at the irony.
  • Every time
  • when haven't i ? the better answer is do u answer the call?
  • LOL. My wife will chat with them and ask them annoying questions, interrupt them, then when they try to sell her something they ask for her credit card information. She giggles like a teenager and says what's that? She enjoys wasting their time.
  • Only always!!!
  • I normally hang up on telemarkers because they don't hang up after they hear no.
  • Plenty of times. +5
  • I did ask for their number at home to call them back though. Then they hung up on me.
  • Many times. But I prefer to let them explain their pitch first before confessing to having an 18 month contract with their competitor.
  • No because then they'll pass around your number to the other telemarketers to call and bug the hell out of you. I know... I use to be a telemarketer :) It's better to say no thank you, now can you please take me off your list.
  • I started talking gibberish and she hung up on me.
  • More than once
  • Hi, Before they have a chance to call I will install a call screening feature on my pbx phone systems to prevent telemarketers from flooding my telephone lines. But if they ever had a chance then I will be honest with them of not to bother my business or home. http://www.ringcentral.ca/
  • Yes, especially when I tell them no, and they keep coming back with, "But what if ...!"
  • I won't receive their calls in the first place. In order for my phone to ring, the caller must enter the correct code number. +5
  • I no longer answer my phone if I do not recognize the number.
  • nearly every time, or i get them intised or piss around with them for the hell of it.
  • I HAVE HUNG UP ON TELEMARKETERS QUITE A FEW TIMES, BUT I TRY TO BE POLITE BEFORE I DO !! IF IT IS A REAL PERSON AND NOT A RECORDING, I JUST POLITELY TELL THEM THAT BEFORE I TAKE UP TOO MUCH OF THEIR TIME, I TELL THEM THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED IN WHATEVER IT IS THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL ME, AND I HANG UP. I DONT ARGUE OR LET THEM GIVE ME ANY REASONS WHY I SHOULD LISTEN TO THEM. I USUALLY ALSO ALWAYS TELL THEM TO PLEASE TAKE ME OFF THEIR CALL LIST AND DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN.
  • I'm on the registered "do not Call" list so I get a call back #, file a complaint, and they don't call me again.
  • i say im not interested but i have hung up on the criminal ones
  • all the time unless I am in a playful mood 😈
  • i say im not interested
  • I like to play with them and waste their time or give them something to talk about with their coworkers.
  • Yup, that lets them know to F-off. LOL 😂
