Is refusal to pay child support or even buying basic necessities (diapers, groceries, clothes etc.) a sign that a parent simply does not love their child?

Not really but it is a sign that they don't realize that there is more to being a parent than just loving a child. I don't doubt in the least bit that my daughter's father loves her, he just doesn't want to recognize that it does cost me more money every day to stock the refrigerator, pay the utilities, buy her clothes, keep her in sports, regular medical care, etc than it would if she wasn't in our lives. He is responsible for part of the expenses that are incurred because she is a minor and cannot support herself. I don't know why but some parents really don't think that they are financially responsible. My ex has convinced himself that I can afford all of this without him and I'm just being a whining baby trying to "make money" on him. Hell if I had the child support he owed me than maybe I could buy some groceries this week instead of paying the car insurance. Every paycheck I juggle decisions on what can wait and what has to be paid this time. He doesn't. And he doesn't care. But, having said all that... I know he loves her... and she loves him.
