  • Yeah, how can we possibly ignore all that anecdotal evidence?
  • Surely it mustn't be true, otherwise his own sister wouldn't have publicly testified against him... Oh wait....
  • surely so many can be wrong. are you forgetting hitler? that being said i never believed it from the start.
  • I had better things to do with my time today than watch a child molesting pedophile be memorialized... What did the Bible say about when evil is called good and good called evil! He was just an entertainer...What about Faraha...she got a small mention on page 9B. And she led a good life All that crap on MJ makes me puke! I am sure you MJ lovers will DR me but maybe there are enough that agree with me too
  • Friends of Jeffry Dahmer swore by his personality too. so...no, I have not changed my mind.
  • I was not there to see what he did or did not do. He was not convicted of any crimes so that says he must of been innocent of the awful things he was accused of. Don't get me wrong, I am not a MJ fan or even close to being one. I liked him when he was younger and was his "real self." I believe anyone is innocent until _proved_ guilty. He was not ever proved guilty. From what I have heard and seen, he was basically a child in a mans body. Sad but true. He did not grow up even though he was an adult in age. He even sounded like a child when he spoke.
  • Logically, yes, that many CAN be wrong - so that's not a good argument. Fame does not equal goodness. We all have our good side and our evil side. Very few are 100% evil through and through. . Families that accused MJ of molesting their children did not speak at the Memorial.+pts.
  • he seemed genuine.
  • No it didn't change my views about him. I think the media went a way overboard with the entire thing, for a week the world ceased to exist because michael jackson died?
  • I always had a strong opinion about MJ and now that he has passed, I am sad that only in his passing, he can be free and people can see him as a real person. Some people say he was a freak and did weird things, but he was exploited from a very very young age and made to dance and sing ever since he knew what show business was. Michael never got a chance at a real life, away from the media. Of course he is going to be a little strange, he doesn't know anything different from the life he's had.
  • I did not watch all the coverage. I did see some excerpts later on and the most moving thing I saw was Paris talking about her dad. That opened a window that MJ kept tightly closed. If he had not been so secretive, guarded and closed off to the world we might have had a chance to see glimpses of that part of his life. You can only base reactions on that which you observe..you can't know the part that is hidden. We saw years of odd behavior, facial changes, skin tone changes, veils covering the kids, masks covering their faces. That is not natural. Had he shown us something more natural it would have been helpful. He chose not to do so.
  • I've always thought he was innocent.
  • It did. I never understood him and questioned many of the things that he did. Now I view him as unconventional and simply misunderstood in many ways. I always respected him as a uniquely talented person but now respect him on a personal level as well, even though I do not agree with some things he did and said.
  • I avoided that coverage like the plague. I've been aware of his life since he was 10 years old. I doubt there was anything new in the rehash.
  • In most cases, these are seasoned entertainers and know how to evoke an audience's emotions. However, little Paris Jackson did break my heart. I felt so bad for her.
  • well for one ins not like they are wrong, but do u think there tell the truth? and i just go back to that 60 minutes interview, he just wasnt all there. now im not saying he did what everyone thinks he did, but something was off w him. i mean he dangled his kid off a balcony
  • For the record, all the millions of hitler supporters believed that the jews were the root of evil and should be exterminated, that didn't make them right. That being said, while I still don't think highly of Michael Jackson because of how he treated his childern, as far as the molestation charges go, I have heard more about the accusers since his death and do believe he was innocent of those crimes. He wasn't a pedophile, but he still was a creep and a lousy father to his children.
  • Not at all. I've grown up listening to Michael Jackson's music and I've always thought he was one of the greatest performers of all time. I've always thought he had a tragic life along with his fame though.
  • This shows me how easily people are swayed by the media, is all. It shows me how quickly history is wiped out by the new ploy. Jackson was surrounded with the very powerful and now the very powerful are using their names and money to glorify both him and themselves. If Michael Jackson did not molest that first boy, just for one small example, why did he not take a lie detector test on national TV? Why did he pay someone $20 million dollars to shut up? Money talks, criminals walk. It's all the same. Why did George Bush get elected?
  • You haven't learned any more about him than was in the public domain anyway - most of it media hype and sensationalism designed to suck people in to the whole Michael Jackson saga. He was a fantastic performer - whether or not you liked his music you couldn't fail to admire the precision and perfection of all his performances. He was a phenomenal child star who maybe had a little too much fame way too soon. He appeared to be a tortured soul and was hounded by the paparazzi his entire life - but Michael the man, the brother, the son, the father - we do not know him through newspapers reports anymore than we truly know each other through AB!
  • If anyone thinks MJ should have been convicted, think again. His trial lasted more than 3 months...none of it was televised. Millions of words were spoken, for and against. Perhaps 1000 were made public daily by journalists in a sound bite on the news. Do not think you followed the case if you only heard what was on the news. One reporter who did attend every day (Andrew Cohen, chief legal analyst for CBS News) said "..the case against MJ was so bad that he was acquitted solely on the evidence..or lack of. Yes..it was that bad". He was presumed innocent, was aquitted...that means NOT GUILTY. That is a central tenet in a free country. He was shown NOT to be a pedophile. He showed flawed judgement, perhaps..but that is not a crime. And remember, he was raised in a bizarre vacuum...and held different values to most of us regarding friendships beween children and adults. I will rememebr him, not as a saint, but as an extraordinarily talented man.
  • I might make some funny comments every now and again but I really felt genuinely sorry for the man and after listening to Brooke Shields speak about him yesterday, I feel twice as bad. His every move was under a microscope and analyzed and he came from a nutty family so I continue to sympathize with his loved ones who are missing him, especially his three kids.
  • My opinion has not changed one bit. If we were to go by the words said at a person's funeral, EVERYBODY is wonderful. i don't know for sure whether he molested kids, but i am still inclined to believe it and a staged memorial designed to honor him is not going to change my mind. I hope he didn't do it, but still can't help but feel he did. Nobody's denying that to his friends and family members he may have been a great guy. Some of the worst monsters in history were "great guys" and very generous, loving etc.....aside from their crimes. MJ was a great entertainer and a great philanthropist but , imo, a pedophile so f*ck him. I'm glad Hitler's funeral wasn't televised if all it takes is a few songs and tears to alter people's opinions.
  • ever heard of the bandwagon :0
  • my feelings for mj have never changed. I have been a big fan of his since i was 10. now maybe the paparazzi will leave him alone. the people i am most concered about are the kids. now tht they have been seen on tv, the press will neer leave them alone.
  • I have not changed my mind and I am still waiting for the final autopsy report. As for celebrities giving heartfelt tributes about other celebrities, they are all actors in one way or another. They are, none of them, 'normal' people so what they feel about others does not concern or influence me. Celebrity marriages and divorces are one example of how celebrities do not act and feel like most of us do. At the risk of having Godwin's Law invoked against me, I agree with previous posters who mentioned Hitler - apparently he was very good to his mother, so should he be best remembered for that? Having one or many good qualities does not absolve you of heinous behaviour. And i feel sorry for his children - I just hope that the grandmother keeps the nanny (nannies?) they are used to looking after them. That might be the only form or normalcy and stability these children know.
  • I find it surprising when people say "so many couldn't be wrong". Look at our last presidency. Or the number of psychotic leaders from history that were chosen by tons of people. But back to MJ, I didn't think badly of him when he was alive. And no, I don't look to celebrities when trying to decide what to think.
  • I have no opinion about him, and argumentum ad populum is a logical fallacy.
  • His music was wonderful, but in his private life he was a twisted, sick soul. The victims he molested will keep quiet out of wrongful shame at what they allowed to be done to them. If they speak the truth they will just be shot down by people who couldn't possibly know - only MJ and those victims can know.
  • Right, oj was innocent too.
