  • growing up christmas was the best, my parents always did the santa so well that i cannot even remember how i came about knowing he was not real. My dad would do the sounds of the reindeer on the roof, we heard bells, there was always peanuts around the yard in the snow, and santa's food was always eaten, it was wonderful such great memories..I don't remember any great disappointments at all..still to this day when I see a santa in a mall i get goosebumps...lol maybe I still believe...yeah right I am 48yrs old..It really was an awesome time
  • Wait... Santa... doesn't exist...? <Dashes off sobbing uncontrollably>
  • I came downstairs in the early morning because I couldn't sleep and saw my father and mother assembling toys and filling our Christmas stockings with candy!
  • When I was a very young child. maybe 3 years old, my parents wer doing the St. Nick thing whihc is near the first part of Dec where candy and goodies rain down from th4e ceiling if you were good or else you get a switch in a bottle of witchhazel if you are bad. Well, I had been good and I saw the candy falling and then I turned around and saw my dad throwing the candy over my head. Mystery revealed. Never believed again. Oh, if you don't know about St Nicholaus Day, it's a Belgian thing or maybe European thing. I don't really remember so well since it was a very looooonnng time ago.
  • When I could see my drunken Father's BLACK beard sticking out from under the white one. I asked him if he was my Father and I remember the reply to this day... "Beat it, Santa doesn't like a wise ass." I was about 4 or 5. It was actually funny!
  • It was funny. I never thought Santa brought the gifts. I always thought/knew my parents gave the gifts. I just thought Santa was somebody who dropped by and ate your cookies and milk. Of course after a couple years of waiting around, he never came. So I came to the conclusion that he didn't exist. End of story. I wasn't heartbroken or anything though.
  • My mean ole friend told me! Trust me that's the worst way to find out! BUt then that christmas.. i sorta found evidence anyway.. soo. but i still like to act like he's real and sometimes i want to think he is! it's just fun waking up at 3 in the morning to find lots of unwrapped presents under the tree!
  • Older kids in the neighbourhood told me. I was devastated.
  • I'm pretty sure I was born knowing the truth about santa... from as long as I remember I'd thought of santa as just a concept. I did write him a letter every x-mas tho, but just so my parents knew exactly what I wanted.
  • My wife broke the news to me last year. I was heartbroken.
  • i believe it was over x-mas vacation when i was a child... the whole family went on a train ride through the colorado rockies. I think I was walking to the bathroom and overheard some people talking about how he wasn't real so i went and asked my mom about it and she told me... I suppose it didn't bother me as much as I would think it would bother a child
  • my parents made the mistake of thinking a three-and-a-half year old wouldn't notice they had the exact same wrapping paper as Santa. Hahaha. To their credit though, they never tried to cover their tracks. They just told me not to tell the rest of my pre-school gang.
  • He doesn't exist? Oh thanks a lot!
  • By snooping through the house and finding all the presents hidden in the attic with tags on them that said "from Santa" I was 7 or 8 years old.

  • He always looked so different in every village or city we came by, and he could never have managed the gift business worldwide in a manner on minutes. I was suspicious early on.
  • I'm a pretty smart cookie. I had always questioned his existence. I just realized one day that I had been fooled in to behaving by my parents lying to me. Nice, huh? One of my least favorite of the things that are considered acceptable for adults to do to children. 'Be good and don't lie or Santa Clause won't bring you gifts' sounds asinine and hypocritical to me.
  • Christmas Eve. I am 7 yrs old.. I was lying in my bed unable to Sleep !! Excited with the Anticipation of the Next day !.. I heard someone walk past my Bedroom Door.. as I was climbing out of my Bed to take a Peek under my Door.. I heard My dad stub his toe and say " Damn ".... Then I saw my dad by our Christmas Tree.. I was soooooooo Disappointed !! lol
  • I think I just figured it out on my own.
  • When I was 5-I saw my Mom put the gifts under the tree. When I woke up-I realize there was nothing there that my Mom hadn't put under the tree.
  • My parents started labeling the tags on some of my presents, "From: Mom & Dad. To: Brian". We still got some presents labeled, "From Santa" and I rationalized, "He's older now, so he can't deliver as many presents as he used to. :p". The next year when I was *21, all of our presents were from my parents and our dog Eric, so I figured that even if there was a Santa, he just retired. ;) Realizing there never was a Santa wasn't the least bit traumatic for me because I was getting bitchin' gifts anyway. :p It just meant that I would get to thank my benefactors in person. :) *-10=11. :p
