  • This is a big deal. When someone has access to your social security it could be used to purchase things which if gone bad can result on a credit card. If using it when you get arrested this could go on your criminal record and if you are over 18 it is permanent. The only way to resolve this is to contact police and find out what you can do and what she was arrested for. This in the future can reflect on jobs, credit, loans, and housing. You can forgive her but it needs to be fixed.
  • talk to a lawyer about your options and its implications, I don't think (due to the severe implications of this case) this is the best place to find advice.
  • Pay for the attorney now or pay a lot more later. I wish it could be easier.
  • This is pretty serious and you need to straighten this out right away with the authorities (consulting a lawyer like others have suggested is a good idea if you can afford it, if not you should call legal aid). Once you decide on a course of action you might let your sister have the chance to come forward on her own (which, considering what she's already done I doubt she will)
