My friend's two year old daughter dialed 911 from my house, accidentally. The operator called back and asked if we were ok. We explained what happened and she gave us a stern warning to keep a closer watch on the phone.

I've never done it, but I've been to more than one house where someone did. The standard response is to dispatch an officer to check and make sure that you didn't really call for a reason then deny it under duress (Example: someone broke in, you dialed then they put a gun to your head and you told the dispatcher it was all an accident you didn't really mean to call).
