  • If they have a union they have a right to strike.Like any union they have the right to voice their grievances such as wages, benefits ect. It is part of a free society.
  • No. I dont think anyone should be allowed to strike! I believe in Thatcherism when it comes to pathetic cowards striking.
  • depends, on what circumstances.. imagine a police standing der and allowin themselves get shot and stabed.. lol der be none left...
  • i dont think they can unionize because of that whole being employed by the government thing...
  • i dont even think they are allowed to strike. worse they can do is not show up for work and get fired. Its under the many contract when they signed up to be a law enforcement. If they dont like the wages or working hours, they should have researched it before ,not complain after
  • Most departments don't strike. When they have grievances they have other means of making their administration know that they are unhappy. One is a "blue flu" where hundreds of officers call out sick at the same time. No one is at work yet it is not a strike do they can't be disciplined. The other way is a "Slow down". Officers go on patrol but write no tickets. It doesn't generate money for their city and they get their point across. There are a few other things they do but i don't want to get killed when i go to work :)
  • Sure, I think they have as much right to strike as a mayor has to fire them all.
  • No. Police officers took a sworn oath to protect lives and property. Imagine what would happen in you neighborhood, if the police went on strike. the governor would have to call up the national guard, if there any soldiers left in the United States to call. And, the people would never forget what happened, if police officers were to strike. the next time the police wanted a raise or new equipment, do you think the public would support them. no way. There are other means of gaining someone's attention for better pay, benefits, etc. Sick in, blue flu, slowdowns are just a few available and are very effective. When the money ceases to flow into the local or state government, politicians take notice and react. Police striking? No, it goes against the very oath officers sworn to uphold.
  • Only if they are in a union.
  • No...........what would we do without Sting?
