  • I never had that problem when I did have a tank however I always found it helpful to ask questions about such things at the place you buy your fish. It does make me curious why you have such a high level.
  • how many gallons in the tank?how many fish in the tank? should be 5 gallons to every 1 inch of gold fish. goldfish are very dirty and can live in an ammonia filled area.
  • I also had the same problem with my betta fish it killed my African dwarf frog but my fish seemed fine the woman at the pet store said to feed him less also if you have a tank less than 10 gallons you can take the fish out and take everything else out of the tank and clean it all from top to bottom. p.s. Ammo-lock does not work whatsoever
  • Feed you fish less. "Vacuum" the gravel to get rid off the accumulated poo an leftovers. Feed less, less food. "vacuum"=put a tube in a bottomless plastic bottle and suck out water through the gravel with this apparatus(picture). The gravel will fall back but the lighter debris will come out with the water. Get your water out this way when changing part of your water
  • Aside form vacuuming the gravel, clean the filter or replace it if needed. Also Petco told me that I should put some Stress-Zyme liquid to create good bacteria instead of the bad bacteria made in the gravel from overfeeding. Of course by feeding them less, you will have less food to rot. What I do is feed my fish and then with a net I get the left over from inside the tank. Hope this helps.
