Everytime you see someone's avatar on AB that is not cartoonish or humorous. Does it give you any inclination about the individual or do you really not care about the avatar put anyt hought into it?

I note all avatars; after all we pick them so they must say something about us. however I think the questions and answers show a deeper part of us!!

When I see someone who uses a real picture I feel they are the type that have nothing to hide and do not really care how others see them. I think they put a lot of thought behind which picture they choose but only for personal reasons which I think has something to do with their basic mood.

An avatar does not have to be cartoonish or humorous to have thought put into it. I think it depends on a person's mood too. Some people change avatars frequently. I think it can clue you in as to a like or dislike, or a hint of their personality.

I think everybody's avatar (cartoonish, humorous or otherwise) sheds a little light into what kind of person they are or what type of personality they have. Just because somebody doesn't use an actual picture of themselves does not mean they are hiding something. Everybody has put at least some thought into which avatar they use and why they use it. I would hope that the ones I use show that I have a sense of humor and not that I am hiding anything.
