Do you think that world is a better place because of religion, or a worse one because of it?

In a way i think its worse because of all the fights religions have caused but in another way i thinks a better place because they bring on a sense of faith and hope in people.

Since religion is an essential building block of society i would say yes. Inspiration and hope of something more is important.

Worse I think. Religion has killed as many and perhaps more than it has saved. War, poverty, exploding populations of people, ignorance, book burning, the suppression of women, the subjugation of native people, the suppression of science, institutionalized abuse of children, rape,the destruction of cultures,torture...(there is more but it is depressing me to write this list)can all be laid at the door of organized religion.

But although religion is probably one of the largest (perhaps the largest)contributors to this salient conditions, is not, however, the only one. Acts of nature account a great deal for those conditions as well as the greed and corruption of non-religious men who would stop at nothing to get what they want.

That's a good question, and a tricky one. Religion is a source of beauty and inspiration; alas it can also be a source of atrocity.

Religion is not the problem, it is unpredictable nature of human being. Free Will has rewards but it also have it drawbacks. The key to making a better world is to be more open minded and respect other ideas and learn not be so distrusting of others. Its like when kids play together, they dont care about religious preference, or skin color or sex, they just enjoy each other company. Maybe we need to look at them for guidance.
