I don't know, but I have seen claims by an American doctor critical of the British National Health Service that were completely false.

All we really have to do about finding out about health care reform is to see how it's working in other countries. I was talking to my insurance rep the other day. One of his son's in-laws lives in Canada. That in-law lost vision in one eye and was having trouble with the other eye. He couldn't get in to see a doctor. So, he came across the border into Michigan and had to pay out of pocket for an MRI. $1700.00. The doctor was able to help him and he gained his sight back in the eye that he had gone blind in. My boyfriend works in the healthcare field. So, he's privy to what the general public doesn't know about socialized medicine. People come to Michigan all the time because their healthcare system is basically shit. Oh, my boyfriend works repairing dialysis machines. They are used when a person loses kidney function. Did you know that after a certain age that in these socialized medicine countries they will not pay for dialysis. Nice huh. Oh, and another thing that people don't realize did you know that members of Congress will not be on the same healthcare plan as you and I if this healthcare plan goes through. Gee, I wonder why. If it's such a good idea why won't they have it? Makes a person go hmmm.....

The Right has a tradition of using simple answers to complex questions (Trees cause air pollution, there is an endless supply of oil, if the President does it, it's not illegal) and those who drink from the right's poisoned well have grown accepting of the simple answer and too lazy to do any homework... When faced with a complex question with No simple answer they get frustrated and angry... Rather than solve the problem, they are willing to just "wish" it away, and to do that, they are willing to accept any reason not to support reform.

I hope you are confusing the media coverage hype with people who believe it. Those of us who see the nonsense for what it is tend to be on the inside pages of the news, with not huge headlines or pictures.

People seem to believe they lie because they do. I keep asking myself the same thing, why aren't the sane and rational people of this country fighting them back? But then I realize that their antics are transparent and well-known. They always show themselves for the malicious whackjobs they are. This time around it's no different and they're not getting away with it

Well, there is a certain element that will believe whatever the right wing talking heads with the screaming me me's say regardless of the issue. I think it has something to do with the kool-aid.

Obama himself said Medicare will bankrupt us, so what does he want to do? Give it to everybody and all at once, including illegals, which will bankrupt us faster. Euthanasia is already offered in Oregon, and when you are simply refused treatment because of your age and the cost you'll take their cyanide pill and like it. Now your granny, or for that matter you, can get a hip or knee replaced even if she has cancer. Then--forget it. Argue with Chuck Norris; he found that in the bill. The more people study this catastrophically flawed bill, the more terrified they get. That's why Obama wanted it passed before anyone had a chance to read it. He spent more time choosing a dog for his kids than he wants to spend choosing health insurance for 300 million people.

Years ago I tried to understand the motivations of the lunatic fringe - why they were so Anti American and seemingly were praying for the destruction of this country. And I found out that instead on one core group of crazies we have a coalition of "tin hatters", Jesus Freaks, Gun nuts, neo-Nazi's, hardcore bigots, ultra nationalists, and a few good honest people who are literally scared of their own shadow. And they all are virtually impossible to talk to, the Tin hat conspiracy crowd honestly believes nonsense like the skull and bones society and the masons are really running Washington and not the large corporations....the Gun Nuts think everyone is out to destroy their right to keep guns and no words to the contrary will convince them otherwise, the Nazi's and bigots are out in La-la land as always and they only talk to their own kind, and the ultra nationalists want an empire where Pax Americana and her lackeys rule the globe in the name of God and the almighty dollar. And the religious wacko's?....forget them! They think progressives work for the Devil and Obama is the Antichrist himself, ( They forget that they said Clinton was the antichrist, and Jimmy Carter, and Johnson....and that EVIL CATHOLIC Kennedy...all of them were antichrists I guess). You can't talk to them period - only their pastor can do that - and he of course has a direct line to god, so he knows exactly what to do. Anyway - there's why so many people believe what the party propagandist spew...they are all lies yes....BUT THESE PEOPLE THRIVE ON LIES AND HAVE NO USE FOR THE TRUTH! They don't want facts - they want their preset opinions reinforced...they crave nonsense - the more fantastical the better. They want to believe Mexicans working in this country are horrible job destroying terrorists, and that God is coming back next week, and that somebody wants to steal their shotgun...or turn their kids into homosexuals.....THEY WANT CRAZY RHETORIC TO MATCH THERE ALREADY BIZARRE WORLD VIEW....and the Republican bosses who get paid well for exploiting these poor hapless people by their owners cheerfully supply a never ending stream of garbage for them to absorb and freak out about. So there you go - that's why the lunatic fringe has gone so ape sh*t crazy over the health bill...many were nuts to start with, and many more will believe any nonsence you tell them - thank god they are a minority and don't actually represent the nation as a whole....or we really would be in some deep - do-do.

Hopefully anyone who is receiving Medicare does not wish to see that no one else has affordable health care. Most folks I know who receive Medicare, a government run healthcare program, are pretty happy with it overall.

the republicans are accutely sensitive to their own feelings of wanting to kill others, so, when fear mongers suggest that uncle sam might kill you, they instantly believe it. fill them with the love and peace of christ or ghandi or rumi, and that hate will blossom into a flower.

these are not phony charges. Most democrats support euthanasia. Once the government creates an entitlement the politicians control all aspects of the program. Why do we want to give the politicians even more power over our lives ? They will ration care. This is the only way to reduce costs.
