  • It's not your money, it's your employer's money. They can deny your claim if they feel like you don't deserve it - like, you were legitimately fired, or you quit of your own free will. If you choose to be job-less, you choose to be money-less.
  • It actually is not your money. Its "insurance" that the employer has paid the premiums on. Each state has different criteria regarding approval/denial of unemployment. You should check into that criteria and if you feel you qualify, you can file an appeal. From my experience, this is what I've observed. If you are terminated and you did not break any laws (assault/theft/etc.) or do something really bad, you will probably get approved for it. If you willingly quit and you can prove that you were in physical danger, harrassed, etc., you may get approved.
