That would be the English version of the America phrase, "you hit the nail on the head."

The term "Spot On" came back to the days when fire trucks were wagons pulled by horses. It was in those fire houses that the dalmations were part of the crew and being that the dogs were white with black spots many of them were named SPOT. When the alarm for a fire was sounded one of the firemen would get into the wagon and yell at the dog, "SPOT ON" to signal the dog to join him. And now you know,the rest of the story
