Can i make just a windows xp recovery software from a disc and put it on an usb stick if so how

I have never done this but I understand you can format the stick and make it bootable. there is a proceedure written for you in the windows help pages ( F1 ) that will get you there. Search for bootable format. it comes up with a listing of related topics and the instructions are there. There is also instruction on how to make recovery disks. I have never tried this but sticks are getting cheaper and I probably will sooner or later. I have had recent experience with windows recovery software though and can tell you it is not magic - some things cannot be recovered, like the Vista stop 07 boot disk failure. I eventually used the drive as a slave and ran a disk recovery program on it to get all my data back. ( I highly recommend ZAR it works on disks that will not even boot )
