  • In their own minds, yes.. just like the Religious people and the Atheists.
  • They are just the ones who fail to take one side of the argument, which may be the smartest decision of all.
  • Religious beliefs rely on faith. Scientific atheism relies on facts, it's not a belief that relies on faith no more than "believing" space exists. Agnostics are people who find the proposed evidence not convincing to neither the existence of God, or the non existence of God. They are the ones that answer the questionnaire with "Don't know/ Can't say". Ultimately, however, science will provide enough data even for them.
  • No-one ever got smarter by saying they don't know the answer. Even the most brilliant scientific theories required a lot of faith by the people who thought them up.
  • Technically, agnostics ARE atheists. Theism is a belief in a deity (or deities). If you just live with the reality that you don't know, that's not a belief. Therefore you are without theism, so you are an atheist - even if you don't identify yourself that way. Some agnostics have a problem with that fact because they bristle at the social stigma of the "atheist" label. But it's still true. You can refuse to admit you are bald, but that doesn't mean you're not bald. kwim? Agnosticism is one way to be an atheist. Another way is to be certain there are no deities (which is sometimes referred to as "positive atheism"), and yet another way is just not to give a rat's butt either way because the social construct of "check yes or no" doesn't apply to you. Arguably, that is also agnostic. Finally, your question makes the common mistake of assuming that "atheists believe..." - or even that we all share any common belief whatsoever. Look further into atheism. You'll see that it's just a word that came about to describe people who are in a natural state of being, without the additional social construct of religion (without addressing whether or not any religion is right or wrong). It's as silly as thinking that "organic" is an artificial additive. No; the word just means there isn't one. See?
  • Actually, atheists can prove that humans created gods. Each culture has created the god or gods that suit its needs best, and the proof of that is the thousands of different religions which have been created around the world. Also, by "religious people," do you mean only monotheists? Because polytheists believe that gods, plural, created humans. Even religious people do not agree on one idea of how a god or gods created humans. I'm not sure what you're asking about agnostics, so I can't answer that part of your query.
  • Seeing as I am agnostic, I wouldn't mind anyone reaching that conclusion!
  • God expects us to have faith in Him. The Universe had to have been created by a Creator, look at it's design, look at the design of the human body and all of it's functions. Look at the functions of the envirnoment. Look at the life you have. I don't like agnosticism because I think you should pick which side your on. Jesus said that if you're not with Him, your against Him. I believe God sees atheists and agnostics no differently from each other. Neither one of them believe in Him and they are both lost and going to hell. Jesus loves them and died for them, and they must either have the faith to receive Him and be saved, or die in their sins and stand before a holy God guilty. The Bible teaches that without faith it is impossible to please God. We must have faith in Jesus. If you do not put your faith in something, you will fall for anything. Thank you and God bless you!
  • Maybe they are more honest - it's not easy to confess to doubts n todays world. People will generally have more respect for an atheist than an agnostic, in my experience. How often have I heard 'At lest Atheists believe in SOMETHING - even if it's nothing!" But I don't believe any of us have a corner on 'smarts', as you put it. There are as many wilful idiots in churchs as there are without, But thats just my opinion, and I'm,
  • It is never comfortable sitting on a fence! You will usually fall off on one side or the other!
  • Atheists cannot either prove that God does not exist. Agnosticists, they aren't the smart ones. They just believed what they were tauht by others. Many people say that God does not exist. Can they prove it? But they do believed that evil exist. So if evil exist, God also exist.
  • I don't see much difference between an agnostic and an atheist. What is the real implication of belief in God? Responsibility for our actions. Sitting on a fence is no better than falling off it.
  • Your premise is wrong. Religious people can't produce any evidence for the existence of god - a far lower bar to reach than actual proof. Atheists can't produce proof of his non-existence but that is logically impossible. You can't prove the non-existence of Tinkerbell, but that is not evidence for her existence. Atheists can show that god is just as likely to exists as Tinkerbell, Puff the Magic Dragon, Bob - God of My Left Foot, or any other made up character and hence there is no more reason to believe. Also, scientists (who are not necessarily atheists) can show how the universe can work without the need of god. So why add an unnecessary complication? So no, there is nothing to suggest agnostics are smarter. One certainly seems more presumptuous, though.
  • Atheists don't have to disprove god. For whilst there is no evidence or proof that it exists in any shape or form their argument is correct. It is up to the faithful to prove that god exists in order to disprove atheism. It's not that I don't believe that god exists, it's just that there is no evidence to prove that he does and therefore he doesn't. It's fact until proven otherwise. And if that happens we won't need faith anymore or belief as god will be a real fact.
