  • Never heard them called lollypop lady. Here, they are School Crossing Guards. Most Crossing Guards are very nice people. Years ago, i stopped and gave a rose to one. She was elderly and has never forgotten that rose.
  • No but I hope you spark some people to do so. You are correct in stating their importance. I am in school to be a teacher and see these people every day and hardly anyone talks to them. They may just have the most important job of anyone at the school and trust me, with NYC drivers, it is dangerous! I'll do my best to give thanks as I drive to school tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration!
  • We don't have those here. They used to have older schoolchildren as school patrols, to guide the children in the vicinity of the school, but that's it. And I haven't seen any of those in a long while either.
  • I walk my son to school about twice a week. I thank all 3 of the crossing guards coming and going EVERY TIME.
  • Yes we know ours very well and always get her a present at the end of the school year and christmas.:)
