  • I swear to god I don't know
  • I think swearing puts more of an emphasis on certain statements, gives them that extra little push. For example: She is so nasty. She is so &%^$#%@ nasty. See?
  • Because even people with large vocabularies get angry and upset, commonly used words cannot convey what it feels like when you really need to swear. Does "Oh ouch!" make you feel as good when you hit your finger with a large hammer as "God dam, son of a bit*h, Je**s, moth*r fu***er. SH**!!!!! ????
  • I agree, but it doesn't answer the question why do we create (if we do) words that are offensive to some, for emphasis. Can't our emotions be taken seriously unless there is some sort of "profanity"?
  • Human nature is fallen (sinful) imperfect (philosophical) hence our physical make-up, including brains, memory, imagination, emotions AND our spiritual components will and intelligence are not coordinated, healed, "literally, "whole" Our desire "to be in charge," "listened to" "right" or plain "accepted" allows us to use language, fists, gestures, and other parts of the body to make statements! That is what some violent sexual activity is an expression of anger and so a Power problem, and not just a sexual action. Some "punishing" of others is NOT totally the wrong-doer's fault but a Power problem- rage, revenge, lack of control, on the part of the punisher. The "feel good" part of using vulgarity or swearing AT someone else, or ABOUT someone or some thing, is more often irrational and is a lesser form of Power gone wild! Anger is a fully human, rational, legitimate, healthy emotion, HOW it is expressed can be quite un-healthy and irrational and not legitimate! By golly, I like that answer!
  • Out of ignorance. Plus for some it makes them feel cool. I thought,as a teenager that I was cool when using foul language, I've come along way since then (almost fifty years old) although when I'm really upset I still slip, but for the most part I've changed my habits. I DO NOT understand why people purposely use it in this medium (why they write it, knowing that a lot of people find it offensive.) I know that some are young and foolish but some are old enough that they should know better. I started noticing about fifteen years ago or so that people with a higher education do not curse-they may say damn or crap but that's as bad as it gets. Whereas those who don't have much of an education every other word seems to be a foul, even when it's out of place. It is such a habit that even when writing they are incapable of replacing that word with anything but what comes naturally. I know a lot of people with little education who don't curse at all so I'm am not saying that they ALL are that way, just my observation of those who do use such words frequently are of little education-I guess the old way of saying it is 'from the wrong side of the track.' Of course, your question was why people swear-that's a little different from people who just use foul language as part of their daily vocabulary. Hope this helps your inquiry. God Bless, <:))))<><
  • b/c its part of their vocabulary and its to show how theyre feeling, like anger or frustration
  • I swear to insult people, if used sparingly swearing be really effective means of communication. It can really offend people I mean women dont like men to use the "c" word. Its just a word! If you swear all the time it has less meaning and effect on those around you.
  • To express frustration and anger, or to get a point across.
  • Because they do not know how to use intelligent words to express their thoughts and feelings. Also, some people seem to think it makes them look cool when it really just makes them look dumb and uncivilized.
  • Swearing is a perfectly normal way of venting rage. consider this, what would you rather, a punch in the face or a nasty word aimed in your direction? when it comes to expressing anger language it the safest way. there is an exception however, swearing in the company of women less than impressive but then again neither is violence
  • This is my idea...When you swear, you breath out quickly,in saying the word so clearing your lungs . Boxers are taught to breath out when they punch to stop being winded when they get hit. Is swearing natures way of ensuring you dont get winded in a potentially dangerous situation ????
  • It's easier than saying something that isn't a swear word.
  • Who the hell knows. Everyone has their own reasons and it's none of my damn business.
  • Fuck if I know
  • They are just more adjectives, nouns, pronouns, and adverbs to spice up a conversation!
  • I agree with most of the other answers , people do it to express extreme feeling .
  • Either because I'm pissed or in a lot of pain.
