A way of doing it: 1) each change of 9 degrees of fahrenheit is the same as a change of 5 degrees of celsius. 2) -40 is the same on both scales. -40 C = -40 F 100.7 is 140.7 degrees fahrenheit above -40 That's a change of 15.63 lots of 9 fahrenheit (divide by 9) Which will be a change of 15.63 lots of 5 celsius. which is 78.17 (multiply by 5) So the temperature is 78.17 above -40 or 38.17 degrees celsius.
