  • If she is in a strange place or around strange people she will do this to lessen the aggression stance that she may have. When dogs put themselves into an aggressive position and will push themselves aggressively on other dogs there tails will be held high and stiff his makes them look larger and signals the other animal that I am going to be boss. When the other animal sees this display he or she has two choices fight or submit. Not to worry she is doing what is normal to a dig. mr Bill
  • My GSD/Husky, Hannah also has a curly (known as a Gay-Tail) tail. Generally, if she is standing up, walking, barking, eating, drinking or playing...her tail is curled up over her back. Sometimes, even when she is lightly dozing it remains curled...but when she is in a deeper sleep, or if she has done "something" that she is being questioned about by someone human in a tone that "says" "I am not especially pleased to have FOUND THIS...DID YOU DO IT?" Her tail may suddenly drop, be slightly tucked between her quickly moving hind legs as she scurries for someplace other than the presence of the human asking the question! Also, upon meeting a strange dog, or a strange LARGER dog, she often will drop her tail a bit and wag..."I'm willing to exchange a good sniff here, but I hope you don't plan on biting or starting anything unpleasant with me...really, I'd rather not go there!" Anytime she is totally relaxed and relaxes the muscles that hold her tail high...it goes down...so do all Gay-Tails! First one UP....second one DOWN!
