No, mainly because we hardly ever get them. If we had one and the lightning was less than a second away then I might. If we had them here on a regular basis then I'd probably have a lightning rod installed.

Nope, my computer ends up turning itself off. Live in the country, almost always have blackouts during storms.

Sure do. I also unplug it. Also if I know one is coming. I lost one during a thunder/lightning storm once, and it was on a surge-blocker. Lightning struck a transformer about two blocks from me.

6-24-2017 Your surge protector is no good. You need an actual line isolator. Topaz is the best. https://www.google.com/#q=topaz+ultra+isolator Sola is another good name. https://www.google.com/#q=sola+line+conditioner Those are the only good brands I know.
