  • Oh I imagine that everyone has had thoughts which went against what they actually believed in their hearts, and God goes by what's in your heart, not your head. Try praying about it...it can't hurt. :-)
  • Sometimes when we focus in on the negative thoughts, they actually begin to control us. I would suggest, if you are thinking strange thoughts, to move yourself from where you are and go for a walk. While you are walking, pray and recite Scripture. And don't worry overmuch about the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. It is a lifestyle, not a word or a phrase. If you look at the passage, the Pharisees said that Jesus did his miracles by the power of the devil. That is what Jesus calls the blasphemy against the Spirit: attributing to Satan what is God's and vice versa. It comes from a consistently hardened heart. You don't sound like your heart is hard like that. You want to please God. So do something positive when these thoughts come. As the Scriptures say 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.   • memorize some scripture. memorize the whole book of proverbs. do one chapter a day, memorize the whole book in a month. say the whole book at one time. fill your heart and mind with the word, and you will see victory. if you put garbage in your mind, then you can only expect to reap garbage later.
  • Don't dwell on it. You must think on something else like a favorite verse of yours, though listening to music and/or working out is a great alternative. Please, (directing this to future answerers) don't joke about this. What you don't revere, you will smear.
  • Those thought are demons pestering you. Tell them to go away and back to where they came from (death) in the name of Jesus. They'll keep coming back, just tell them to go away and after a while they let up. They'll come back now and then, but you just tell them to go away.
  • The more you try to put an obsessive thought out of your mind, the more it derives power from your fear and aversion. Add guilt and the fear of God's wrath and it keeps coming back. Instead try this: Since you believe in God, tell God how you really feel and how you are bothered by this persistent thought. God will understand and help you. From a Biblical point of view blasphemy agains the Spirit is a lifetime of resistence to His love and power. You are not in danger of that sin it seems. Next, the easiest and most effective way to be rid of thoughts is to develop a systematic approach and some techniques for thought replacement.   • Well, here's my opinion: I think you should just relax, not worry about thinking "blasphemous thoughts". It's okay to question and analyse things around you, in fact, it's very natural and healthy to be skeptical; you are an intelligent human being after all, and we all wonder at one time or another. Trying to suppress these "blasphemous thoughts" mean you're suppressing free thought; even if you're a firm believer of a religion it's still a good thing to think into things. Think of thinking as a gift; a gift to be enjoyed. If you believe your God created free thought and human intelligence, I doubt they'd mind if you make use of the gift they gave you, right?

  • Even Jesus was tempted (three times, at least) by satan. In order for him to process those temptations he had to "think" about them...in other words, they had to go through His brain. Therefore, the act of "thinking" evil thoughts is not necessarily sin, as Jesus was sinless. It's what we do with those thoughts that matters. Scripture that will give you hope (at least, I hope it will), is from Jeremiah: "The heart is decietfully wicked above all else, who can possibly know it?" According to this scripture - we're ALL evil - no one is good. Even the best Christian, at their best moment in time would be considered evil...it's because of what Jesus did on the cross for us, that we are redeemed...nothing we can do can make up for what we do or who we are. I used to worry as you did, until I realized this point...after that, when I realized that everyone is evil (some, I'll give it, more so than others - look at Hitler, serial murderers and the like). Above anything, God sees your heart and your struggle. He'll honor that.

  • You can have any thought you wish and if you feel like you do about that thought YOU ARE JUST FINE. You are not enjoying the thought. It is your intent that counts not what comes up in the mind. The more you fret and worry and obsess, the more power you give to that type of thoughts. That old saying "An idle mind is the devil's workshop" rings true here. Busy yourself in something that matters, help another person who needs your assistance and don't get all nutso about what you are thinking and it will soon disappear. Unless you have a chemical imbalance and need medication. Still not a sin. Still not your fault.
  • Evil thoughts are common to us all. Try to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). Repent of the thought when it arrives. Only when you entertain and nurture the thought, then you engage in sin. The fact that you care not to offend God, He knows perfectly that you do not intend to blaspheme Him. He is THE just Judge: He will neither misunderstand your struggle with those thoughts nor charge you unjustly with blasphemy. He knows perfectly. Just keep repenting when the situation arises.
  • Borrow or buy a spare hymnal from your church. Bring it home and start memorizing some of your favorite hymns, the ones whose melodies you know. When you can recite them from memory you have something to call on to drive bad thoughts out of your head. I have a verse especially memorized for nightmares. When one occurs I recite it once or twice and am able to return to sleep.

  • Everyone has thoughts that go against their beliefs. I think God will judge you on how you handle those thoughts instead of the fact that you actually have them.
