  • Yes. Policeman can pull anyone over. They may be just checking you to see if you have a stolen item on you for example.
  • you say if the police didnt see the person drinking, drunk or causing a disturbance, but the police can obviously see something, if for example you are just talking to friends then the police can approach you and ask to search etc.. but if you appear to b drunk, yes they can, its called public intoxication.
  • Traffic stops in a parking lot of a bar or retaurant are legal stops only if the officer has probable cause to make a traffic stop. There must be a traffic violation committed in his presence or equipment violation or some type of suspicious activity detected before the officer can effect a legal traffic stop. Of course if you are lagally stopped in the parking lot and the officer smells alcoholic beverage on your breath he now may initiate a D.U.I invetsigation on you after he has completed his first traffic issue.
  • If they have ANY reason at all to suspect something suspicious they can. Of course they can
  • In michigan they can if you look suspicious and in the small town that i live in if they know you and your a known trouble maker they pull you over just because of who you are but they will make up an excuse any excuse as in the tail light was burned out or the turn signal did't work and so on and so forth with bullshit reasons.
  • Ah...you touched on one of my pet peeves. I find it interesting when people ask about whether someone can do something or other when we've been shown time and again that just about ANYBODY can do just about ANYTHING they damn well please. AND... ...the more authority, position, money and power they have increases the odds of them getting away with damn near anything they please. Now, if your question asked whether it was LEGAL or correct or something to that effect, we'd have a different discussion, but as the question is posed... ...'fraid so.
  • I don't think they can pull you over in a parking lot though... I thought they had to be on public roads... But they can pull you over even if you didn't do anything wrong. They do that all the time and call them "check stops" they just want to make sure you're not drunk! I know it's annoying, but it's good to do so that we don't have drunk people driving on our streets!
  • Yeah...they sit outside the bars and resteraunts here all the time. Now...if you arent drinking and driving, and you didnt get any violations...then there is nothing to worry about, theyll letcha go. Now if you were drinking, they did their job. Stopped a person from hitting the streets and possibily hurting somebody. If you made a violation, maybe you should have payed attention...no insurance? DL?...well why are you driving? ...I dont mind.
