  • The tea could have been too hot for the jar to handle.
  • If the jar was cold, extreme temperature changes will shatter the glass.
  • The tea was too hot to be put in a glass jar. Either the tea should have been allowed to cool a little first or a metal utensil should have been put ito the bowl first to take up some of the heat. You should never put very hot liquid straight into a glass container unless the glass states it is suitable for boiling water etc.
  • My father experienced the same thing with a jar not too long ago, it almost cut his hand. Just one of the mysteries of life. He would like to blame it on the Devil but I think Satan has other things to do besides breaking glass.
