  • At least where I live, you don't need a degree. You do need to pass a difficult test tho to be a licensed land surveyor. With a little on the job training just about anyone can be a "rod man" which is the surveyor's helper. this can work into becoming the party chief who does the main surveying. You don't have to be licensed to do this. Our surveyor isn't licensed but he can't go into business for himself or anything.
