I am/was self employed,I don't do the General Contracting much anymore,I'll still take certain contracts, those I chose to take for certain reasons, namely, those that require a specialty that I can do,where others are still learning or don't have the skills necessary to do the job correctly or professionally. I am now working from my shop(300 feet from the front door) making cabinets and other woodworking projects, all in my time, needs, and requirements for production and customer needs. So, semi-retirement,needs being met through dedication and want, not as they were while working in mainstream society. Hence, the time I can spend messing around on AB like I do sometimes.
