There will be peace on Earth when the Sun expands to consume the Earth, somewhere in the next 4 billion years. Mankind however, will long since be gone when this event occurs, we will become extinct as the cycle of our genetic structure would have failed in some way. The average life expectancy of a concious race such as humans has the potential to exist and sustance itself for a minimum of 2 million years and a maximum of 4 million years, after that, DNA begins to fizzle out. Humans as we know ourselves, have only existed on this planet for the past 275,000 years. On the galactic scale, even with our current technology, we have only advanced to preschool and our brains have yet to shed their primitive impulses, which probably won't occur for thousands of years. We are thus subject to the flight or fight , only the strong survive, kill or be killed, mental protocols of our primitive impulses and intellect. Goodwill towards all mankind is probably the nicest thought ever concieved by man, yet, due to our primitive reptilian brains, evolution has yet to equip humans with the mental capacity to utilize such a concept as of yet. Humans are just a bunch of little kids, with toys and tactical nuclear weapons. We have the capability to eradicate mankind from this planet 20 times over! And we think of ourselves as an advanced species?... I find such assumptions nothing short of laughable. Welcome to the planet of the apes.

When ignorance is purged. I wouldn't hold my breath, but it's not impossible. The future is NOT determined, it's up to us. That's what the word "responsibility" means. If we were simply fated to always be ignorant, selfish, greedy, and fearful, then it would not be possible for us to make morally significant choices or have free will. Since we do indeed experience making morally significant choices and having free will, we can conclude logically that the future is unformed. But who cares about logical conclusions? They're fine for the classroom, but what the real world needs is people who know this in their bones: that it's up to ME to be peaceful and embody goodwill toward mankind, and do my best to promote that among others. That's the antidote to ignorance: personal responsibility. I can't wait for someone else to handle the problem. Yes, I'm just one ordinary person, with no particular global power. It's still my job. And I invite others to make it their job too.

When humans are smart enough to understand that their group allegiances are not more important than their allegiance to humanity as a whole. Sorry, I can't specify a date. It's not impossible, but it's a big job.
