**Edit** When I worked in the US we gave Plan B for rape cases only. Call your doctor immediately if you experience the following symptoms and signs of serious adverse effects: Itching all over your body Cramping or severe pain in your stomach or belly prior to your next normal period Common side effects for women who use birth control pills for EC are nausea, vomiting, headaches, breast tenderness, dizziness, fluid retention and irregular bleeding. These side effects usually disappear after 1-2 days. Side effects are rare when Plan B is used. Danger Signs Women who experience any of the following symptoms while taking EC should call the clinic immediately: Abdominal pains (severe) Chest pain or shortness of breath Headaches (severe) Eye problems, such as blurred vision Severe leg or arm pain or numbness Other side effects may be: nausea vomiting infertility breast tenderness ectopic pregnancy (can be life threatening) blood clot formation This pill offers no protection against sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS. You should not use plan B if you have a confirmed pregnancy, have unexplained vaginal bleeding, or are allergic to the ingredients in the pills. The pregnancy rate of plan B ( also known as the morning after pill) is calculated for a single use. If plan B is used on more than once occasion, the cumulative pregnancy rate will be higher. plan B might not work if: You have unprotected sex again in the same menstrual cycle after taking it You have already had unprotected sex earlier in your menstrual cycle You vomit within 1 hour of taking it(talk to your pharmacist if this happens to you) You were already pregnant when you took it You're taking other medication that may reduce the effectiveness Emergency contraceptive pills will definitely not work if you already have a confirmed pregnancy. There are no long term studies to show whether women will be permanently damaged, or risk such diseases as cancer, from these chemicals being given in such high doses.

I've used it before and the only side effects I had were a little bit of nausea and a heavy period about 4 days later.

I had some nausea and some cramping. I also had a bit of a headache but was easily cured from about 400mg of ibuprofin. Everything was fairly mild. As fas as when it started, I believe it was within a few hours from when I took the first pill, but exactly, when I don't remember.
