To shield against magnetic fields, ferromagnetic sheet metal is used. The strong magnets in surround speakers, e.g., have to be shielded to not disturb/damage the video set. One specific metal that is especially designed to be a good shield is Mu-metal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu-metal
