A Buntline Special with a 10 inch long barrel.

-
RareCatch
Oh how I wish I had a Buntline. Not for home protection for that I would get a Taurus 410 hand gun. Won't shoot into the neighbors house like a 9mm

-
A non-working one.

ReiSan
That will not protect you.

Beretta

The biggest one I can shoot without breaking my shoulder

Shotgun because it doesn't require exact aim. Some of the pellets will find their mark.

Pei Chia-Li
Most of them do not scatter much at close range.
-
-
Smith and Wesson 617. I learned to shoot on one of these.
-
i'm not allowed to own or possess any fire arm of any kind.
-
Well if they got past the mine fields and elecric fences.... Id want dual M1911's, and an AK-101.
-
There are several that would be quite good I would recommend the Glock 9 or one of the other models similar. As one of your local police officers says, "It is better to have a gun and not need it than to need one and not have it."
-
Pistol-gripped, 18" 12-gauge if not in an apartment. ;-)
-
This one
-
One with the right person behind it....."ME".
-

-
The blunderbuss.
-
An M16 Or maybe a sawed off shotgun for close range and a bowie knife or katana for close combat.
-
Most experts reccomend a 12 gauge shotgun. At the distances within a home, the spread would be just enough to give you a good chance of nailing an attacker without spreading wildly all over the place. The sound of the gun being pumped has been recorded as being a great psychological deterrent (for obvious reasons) and if you do need to fire, the shoulder stock will provide support because no matter how brave you think you are, your hands will be much too shaky to fire a handgun accurately unless you've had a great deal of training and you are very familiar with how it works. Personally, I use a Mosin Nagant as my home defense gun, but thats just because I haven't bought a shotgun yet, and it makes a great club, spear, polearm, if I happen to miss.

Super Soaker CPS4100
-
Canadians have a government that frowns on guns used for home protection.
-
Sawed off pump. Maneuvers well in tight places, excellent stopping power and has a large 'hit' zone. Perfect for when you are suddenly awakened and your aim isn't quite up to snuff yet yo...
-
an ak47 DUH LOL
-
i like a .357, a smallish big gun. easy to handle and effective

Well, I've answered similar questions here before, and I'm sure links are posted in my profile for them. First of all, a gun in my house would not be my primary means of defense. I have children in the house and as such I do NOT leave any of my firearms loaded. Not even in one of those gun safes which have the quick access codes to (which I have yet to buy anyway). But I DO have several firearms from which to choose from. Should the opportunity allow me to gain access to them AFTER moving my family to safety and getting them to call 911, my first choice would be my 12 Ga pump shotgun, followed by my .45 Colt. My reasons are this: 1. A reasonable show of deadly force includes the psychological impact of the weapon presented. To that end, there is NOTHING so readily identifiable as the sound of a 12 gauge pump shotgun slide chambering a round. The same theory follows for the sound of my Colt .45 slide chambering a round. Both are unique and readily recognizable signs that SOMETHING has gone horribly wrong for the person(s) who breaks into my house. 2. My choice of firearms is also based upon two ballistic characteristics which are desirable: -Sufficient firepower to take the invader down. -Sufficient margin of safety with respect to any rounds escaping my house with sufficient energy to cause serious injury to any neighbors or passers-by. The goal is to stop the invader...NOT kill or injure innocent people with my weapon.

12 gauge Browning automatic shotgun loaded with triple-ought buckshot. If anything survives 5 loads from that, RUN!!!
-
Desert Eagle .50 not compact but no problem if I have to shoot though walls to hit my target.
-
They won't let me buy an RPG so what's the point? I like the baseball bat with 10 penny nails.

MINIGUN
-

-
A water pistol, no chance of shooting my foot off.
-
A gun for home protection? ha! guns are made for killing and that is what they do... want home protection get a baseball bat and a good gaurd dog... maybe a taser or some pepper spray... to rewrite the question "what gun would be your choice to cause another useless death?". And to answer your question a shotgun... from range it has a lower chance of killing and doesnt go through walls as easily killing someone sitting on their bet imho
-
12 guage loaded with birdshot or a 410. No slugs.
-
I prefer dogs
-
Snub-nose .38 revolver.

We have a 12 gauge, pump-action shot gun for now, but we both want new hand guns also.....I assume the shot gum will do for now lol
-
Glock G32C with hicap mag. should do the trick.
-
A 0.30 carbine or my ppk against people.....but I keep a 7.62x54 M-44 carbine in the event of a bear break-in. (Somewhat ironic, eh? A Russian rifle is my primary defense against a bear invasion?)
-
The Judge.

Excellent Best for home invasion

-
A compact high capacity semi-automatic pistol using 40S&W ammo. For those who question the safety of a hand gun in the home may I suggest that you invest in gun training for the whole family. Cars are also very dangerous when used by the untrained.
-
I keep a simi auto 12 gage Beretta with number 1 buck shot. with the plug takeing out so that I have 5 shells instead of three. I plan on geting a S&W modle 500 50 cal. long barrel. many people would run at the sight of it ,most will run at the sound of it being shot even if I am inside and thay are outside at the street, and knowone will stand after being shot with one. the modle 500 is only good at home are in your vehicle for protection It would be very hard to concel on person.
-
9mm Beretta, compact, holds 14 rounds. Then i keep my S&W 44 magnum close, for some real stopping power.
-
If you live where I live? An AK47, would be the ideal gun. Trust me!
-
a ben affleck poster at the door..

-
4-10 shotgun. smaller than a 12ga. but just as nasty at close range.
-
a sniper gun, all the way baby!! :)
-
A giant cannon. Actually, G36c.
-
I do not believe that guns should be in the home. I've been in the military for over 30 years and have never owned a gun (even though I qualify in their use year after year). If you live in an area that makes you feel unsafe enough that you need a gun... it's time to move. Hope this helps.

Glock 17

-

-
German Shephard named Gun. Big teeth mean bite.
-
not even a debate. 12 gauge shotgun loaded with 3" magnum OO buckshot. There are 15 pellets in each shell and it kicks like a mule but whatever you hit with one won't be coming at you afterwards. I run 3 mags and 3 slugs in my Mossberg. If those happen to miss the .45 and the 9mm are in the headboard and the AR is under the bed. Of course they need to get through 3 huge Rottweilers first.....
-
A granade launcher
-
The best choice is any gun that you can shoot properly. It does you no good if you cannot hit your target. For most people that would mean a shotgun. Most gun owners do not practice with their guns and would likely miss. Myself, I use a Glock .40. But I shoot every month and I hit what I shoot at.
-
Projectile vomit works best.
-
I keep a Taurus "Judge" loaded with Remington shells. Great gun. Won't pass through drywall into next room but will do a nice job splattering an intruder.
-
any type of shotgun. It's really strong and it's shell consist of about 12? or 14 shells so, it can hit multiple targets.
-
mossberg 500 with 00 buck baby!
-
Short gun would be my choice.
