  • I've played a stupid reaction testing game that shocks the slowest player.
  • yes i used to get it a lot at one point when i turned the lights on or off but it never happened to anyone else only me. also i got a shock plugging my iron in once
  • I asked this question because last night I was cooking and I had my mixer sitting in the sink, but the water was off. Without thinking I turned on the water to rinse something and when I went to grab the mixer it shocked the "F" out of me! I swear, I walked around for 10 minutes feeling like one of those cartoon characters with little sparks jumping off around it.
  • as a child I would crawl under my bed and touch the outlet. BBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! MOMMA!!!!!
  • Yes I have had a couple of pretty shocking jolts( pun intended), thrown me at one time but never anything serious enough to harm me. Just shook me up
  • Yes. When I was 14 I was washing the dishes. My parents had a perculator coffee pot. I disconnected the coffee pot from it's cord, but did not unplug the cord itself. The live end of the cord slipped into the water. I kept trying to put my hands in the water and thought, "This water is hot." I did that about 3 times before I realized what was going on. LOL
  • Once when I came home visiting my family, they neglected to mention they were having some of the wiring rerun through the house. When I got to the house it was late, and I let msyelf in with a key. I reached over to where I knew the lightswitch was, but got a nice little jolt and spark since the switch wasn't there and the electrician had left bare wire until morning when he intended to finish. Needless to say I got a nice burn and had a few choice words for that electrician.
  • No, but I watched a friend of mine get zapped pretty bad. As teens my friends and I would always go to this same arcade and hangout, we had to go out the back door to smoke, (cuz we were so cool) and there always was this big wire hanging from the roof. So one day one of my friends decided that he would be Tarzan and swing from the big wire. So he jumped from the stairs grabbed the wire and started yelling like Tarzan, after a few short secounds he stopped yelling and his eyes got real big and he couldn't let go. He just hung there, we realized what was going on so a few of the guys tryed grabbing his legs to pull him free, but that just shocked them. So I jumped off of the stairs just like he did and kicked him as hard as I could, (my butt wasn't as heavy back then) and he fell free. Poor guys hands were burnt pretty bad but we took him to the hospital and he was fine, the DR. just told him not to swing from random wires attatched to buildings.
  • I cycled into an electric fence once. It was quite funny because I was wearing rubber boots and obviously the bike had rubber tyres so it was only when I put my hand down that I felt the shock. It went right up one arm, accross my chest and down the other arm. Not very painful, but quite uncomfortable and a very strange sensation.
  • Twice--one time I accidentally touched the base of a ceiling fan while cleaning it. The second time, I was cooking with a metal spatula and my hip touched the handle of the oven door, and I somehow completed a circuit and got zapped very nicely. I just sort of stood there and stared for a minute. Rather unpleasant.
  • Yes, numerous times with various fake pens, cell phones, lighters, gum packs, etc. I have also been shocked on the tongue by a 9 volt battery because I was testing if it was good or not (if you don't hold the battery on for long it doesn't hurt, it just tingles).
  • I was in a metal band known as Astaroth back in the 80's and 90's. We were playin a show in Temple Terrace Florida about 1,500 People, we were touring with other local bands and were the 3rd band to go on stage. We got our introduction and we hit the stage with guitars and drums pounding out one of our original songs, I was playing rhythem guitar and doing lead vocals. We completed the first and second verse and the lead guitar solo and I was gettiing ready to do more vocals and struck a few power chords then grabbed the mic, I felt an intant paralyzing charge go through my body I recall falling backwards on stage and hitting my head and I still felt the surging feeling going through me, causing me to flop around on my back, I had a grip on the mic and guitar and I could not let either one go, Unfortunatally most everyone thought it was part of the show except the assistant sound tech who realized I was being electrocuted in front of 1,500 fans. I learned that he ran through the crowd to the main stage power source and shut down the power to the whole stage. I was transported to the hospital and treated for minor burnes on both of my hands.
  • My dad had a mechanical calculator, from before electronic ones were invented. I took it apart to see how it worked ... bzzt youch - the metal rod I was holding shot across the room ... I'd forgotten that the mechinical calculator was driven by a small unshielded mains electric motor! Also I'd built myself a synthesiser ... the only mains part in it was the transformer and that was wrapped in insulation tape.... Except electrical insulation tape is totally useless - the sharp contacts just poked through it and shocked me. Got me again and again while I was trying to fix the synth. The tape doesn't even stick properly either.
  • yes. My aunt had a short in wiring to a standard plug, that ran under her front door (which had a metal door frame/surround. I grabbed the door frame with my hand, I had bare feet, and I was coming in and it was raining, I stepped on the door surround. MAKE ME FEEL ALIVE!! Also, I was a very cruel child and I told my sister if she stuck both ends of a broken wire coat hanger into a socket, it would make her feel good.... Yeah, I got into big trouble. Then again, the thing with the door frame... was probably karmic!
  • The big chest freezer in my Aunt's basement gave out a serious shock anytime the latch was lifted. Although it was funnier than it was painful, we kids always had an excuse to get out of having to go deal with that thing! Once when I was helping Mother re-hang draperies in the picture windows of our family beer joint, I got a horrible electrical shock. The neon light was left on and not noticed! So when I reached up to the traverse rod, leaning into the old metal Venetian blinds, they touched the neon light. Not exactly the kind of buzz you'd want to get in a bar! Another time a storm came in faster than I could finish washing up our poodle, Ruffles, in the kitchen sink. Lightning hit the pump in our well (378 feet down) and I felt the serge come up my arms, from him standing in the water. Poor little guy! The thunder afterwards was pretty painful too!
  • I was changing a lightbulb on a weird old lamp and I was jolted all the way up to my shoulder. It was NOT a pleasant feeling.
  • No, thankfully!
  • Yes. When I was young (and obviously very stupid), I stuck a key into a live outlet. Several times since then, I have made the mistake of putting my finger into a live bulb socket, which is also very unpleasant.
  • Once. We had a pinball machine when I was a kid, and as I was plugging it in, I had a jolt shoot up my arm. It kind of stopped at my shoulder joint though. It felt like what you'd imagine it would feel like! Electrifying and stunning. Kind of numbing. I guess maybe the cord had some of the insulation missing near the plug, or else I must've touched the outlet.
  • I was pressure washing and enclosed porch area and got water on a shelf where I had placed a beer. I went to grab the beer and put my hand on the shelf to rest a bit first and there was a live wire lying on it (I didnt see it). My hand stayed numb for an hour at least.
  • Several times to be honest, mainly because my hobby revolves around electronics and electricty. However, i think the best shock (well most dangerous and painful one) ive had was when i was building a 'Helium Neon Gas Laser Power Supply'. I had just about finished bulding it, and needed to test it on the laser itself. So plugged it in and powered it up. Worked fine, so i switched it off and unplugged it. When i went to pick it up and make my final modifications i can just remember this sharp pain travel up my arms, and what i can only describe to be like being hit in the chest by a vehicle thrusting me into the opposite wall. Later i discovered that the capacitors used in the power supply hadn't discharged and i had experienced a shock of about 320V. Unfortunately the power supply didnt survive the shock of falling several feet onto a solid concrete floor :(
  • So many times. 110 volts (I'll actually touch the wires to check if they're hot), 220volts (Do NOT intentionally touch these) and an electric fence ("Come here pretty horsie").
  • yes i was the child who stuck the fork in the outlet
  • I have never been electrocute, thank heavens, but I have received strong electrical jolts working on electrical repairs around the house. It is scary.
  • I have been electrocted many times. Some mild, and one where it threw me across the room. So much now, that I've been banned changing light bulbs by my wife. All of the shocks I had were my fault apart from one. That was when a science teacher electrocuted me in an experiment at school. Thankfully I'm still here and still very scared of doing things electrical.
  • when i was 4 i attempted to feed grass to a race horse i grabbed the electric fence with both hands. I was sent flying at least 4 metres. Had to goto hospital with serious head injuries ha stupid kid.
  • Been shocked a lot. Usually it was because the breaker panels on the ship were either labeled wrong or tampered with despite the red tags. Sometimes it was because I could not de-energize the circuit without causing SERIOUS problems. A few times I did the 120-twitch on purpose to prove that a 60-cycle shuffle doesn't actually hurt; it just feels funny. And then there was the time that I didn't know I was being shocked until I arc-welded my screwdriver to the side of the junction box. Cheng got a laugh out of that one.
  • I was shocked to find out this was a serious website.
  • yes.. one of my friends thought it would be funny to not cut the power off when I was helping him to install a garbage disposal in a 100 year old house.
  • I did twice changing a blown out lightbulb.I was using a pair of noninsulated pliers to pull out the coil, and I had left the ceiling fan on because I needed light.
  • Yes. One time my hair dryer cord was on the floor and I was standing on it as I was going to wash my hands and...ZAP! It was a small jolt, but enough for me to never leave my hair appliances lying around again!
  • Yes, when I was young, I had horses, and I used to end up on electric fences now and then, evil horses. In my job as an IT Techie, I have managed to give myself electric shock a few times.
  • I have been hit by the resonant-effect of lightning, and, electrocuted by a faulty washer and dryer outlet, plus, in ninth grade, I stuck my finger in an open light switch. I had an out-of-body experience, on that one.
  • I was when i was a little girl, and now when i ride my bike under electrical wires, and the front of my fingers are just slightly toucing the metal on the handle bars, i feel a buzz. Does anyone else experience this? Also I find it very hard to keep a watch working. It seems like they last a day or 2, and then just quit. What is going on here?????
  • LOL. Yes. Me, being the smart person I am, Was sitting next to a disassebled wall heater, And I saw this curvy wire that looked weird. Having the sudden urge to touch it, I found it very shocking. My arm felt weird for the next three days. LOL ~+~
  • In a previous life I was electrocuted in Florida's Electric Chair.
  • one week ago today a very bad thunderstorm with funnel clouds hit my friends house where i was staying in freehold NJ we went down into the basement because it looked like a tornado was coming and lightning struck her house and traveled through the house into the steel pole i was bracing myself on it took a minute to seperate my feet from the floor and i smelled like burnthair for a cp day and after having to wear a heart monitor i am doing better but my EXTREME love for thunder storms is far far gone !!! i miss them but im scraed to death
  • Yes, I have a perverse boyfriend who has a love of shocking pens and other items like that.
  • Do electroshocks count?
  • I've taken about 300 volts DC through my wedding ring. Luckly I wasn't very well grounded.
  • Yes! Several times. It is a very strange sensation.
  • been electrocuted and i have electrocuted my self... one was an intentional prank and the other was an accident... sort of... curiosity almost killed me!
  • Yes, a couple different ways. Some through house current and some through electric fencing
  • "Electrocuted" means KILLED by electric shock. People who have been electrocuted would not be able to answer your question.
  • My son was killed that way.
  • Yes, I was unplugging an old railroad signal in dim light when the plastic cover over the plug slipped off, so I grabbed the screw terminals instead. My arm felt numb for a minute or two, and then I was (I hope) fine.
  • MY son was killed that way....
  • yep being an electrician i've had a couple of shocks some my fault and some somebody elses fault. the shocks up the arms are'nt too bad its the shocks across the chest that hurt like hell
