I am so sorry to be rude, but this type of question indicates to me that you not only should not be breeding your dog at all...but you don't even grasp how reproduction in general works. Please try not to take my ire too personally...there are HUNDREDS of people just like you. (I know you can learn...and learn you should!) It is not that you don't know that upsets ME...but that you believe it's perfectly fine to make more puppies...when you have no clue as to what you are actually doing and the effect you are adding to with regards to UNWANTED DOGS. And NO it matters not if you already have homes for YOUR puppies to come...YOUR puppies are adding to the number of ADOPTABLE DOGS who will not BE adopted because there are now MORE puppies. If you are not showing your dog, earning your points and titles to PROVE THAT THE DOGS BEING BRED...both the male and female...to show that these dogs should even be CONSIDERED for breeding....THEN STOP THINKING ABOUT BREEDING AND MAKING MORE DOGS WHEN THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF DOGS BEING KILLED EVERY WEEK BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY DOGS AND TOO FEW FOREVER HOMES FOR THEM...PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! That's my rant for the day! A bitch that is successfully bred, has hooked, AND caught (become impregnated) will have all of the puppies she is going to have. She has all of the eggs present and accounted for at the time of breeding for each litter. Repeating the act will not increase the number of fertilized eggs that will grow. A bitch that is successfully bred by MORE THAN ONE DOG at a shot...can become pregnant with puppies from both males. Hence, an accidental breeding of lets say a Black Lab Bitch...a Golden Retriever Dog and a GSD dog...will result in puppies that may take after all three animals. The individual puppies will not be all three, because they will only pick up on the genes and traits of the Mother and ONE OF the males...individual puppies will not be created by BOTH males. If the Bitch or Dog (s) are from crossbred animals THEN the resulting puppies can have attributes from more than one breed...such as if the Bitch was a mix of Lab and Boxer...and one Dog was Collie and GSD and the other Dog Poodle and Lab...but otherwise it is just like people...ONE SPERM (generally) goes to ONE EGG...(on occasion, we have twins...where the ONE sperm has gone to ONE egg, but then the One Egg divides into TWO or even Three individuals...this rarely happens with dogs...humans, and hoof stock are more likely candidates for this to happen with). When you SEE happy, loving, great dogs and puppies TODAY...and then tomorrow THEY ARE DEAD...it becomes pretty frustrating and heartbreaking after years of it. Showing your animals, and learning to READ BLOODLINES so that you can make the best Informed decisions about breeding helps to cut down on the overall number of dogs KILLED. Having your titles doesn't mean that you SHOULD BREED and add to the canine "pupulation"...but it at least indicates that YOUR DOG OR BITCH SHOULD IMPROVE YOUR CHOSEN BREED! Make sense?
