tools that have been bought are perfectly fine, as long as you cleanse them of previous energy. tools made yourself would be best because you made them, but its not necessary hope it helps :)

Its a symbolic thing. Tools that you have may yourself are yours alone - they have nothing from anyine else. Tools from other are shared. And what is shared is notgiven away - by sharing we double the gifts we have. So a true Wiccan will freely give and freely take, becaue in the giving and taking value is added for all.

AS long as you bless all of your tools, they will work the same. But if you are going to buy tools, make sure you add a personal touch to them or they will not work for you. Let's say you but a wand. You should at least carve you name or a symbol into it to make it one of a kind.

Either way is perfectly fine. In my tradition, you make your own tools whenever possible, the athame being one of the most obvious and common exceptions. The reason for this is the meaning and symbolism the tools have to you, and your learning of the tool and its symbolism. Making your own tools is part of the Path of Earth (first year and a day) in my tradition, and during the making of the tool you learn all about the tool, its symbolism, and its use. It has your energy, and has a special meaning to you because you put your time and energy into its creation. However, there is nothing inherently wrong with purchased tools. Do whatever cleansing and consecration ceremonies you need to do to make them feel as "yours" as possible. :) Blessed be.
