Yeah, Windows 95 was great. It still is! I think there's nothing wrong with it. Maybe someone just wanted to earn more money, as if he did not have enough money already.

When I read this question, I was reminded of an old guy who once asked me, "Don't you wish we could go back to the old cars, without all this newfangled technology?" My answer to both questions is 'no'. I agree that Windows 95 was a great OS for its time, but it's missing so much compatibility, features, security, and more that we now take for granted. Not every new OS is better than the last one in every way, but I prefer progress over stagnation.

No, the VIC-20 was perfect. It was instant-on and ran much of it's software from ROM cartridges. It cost less than a modern PC, even after adjusting for inflation. Or the abacus; it needed no electricity. If you think 95 was perfect, then we would have to spend a few hours giving you technical details that you probably would not understand because if you COULD understand then you would already know why 95 is dead and buried and thus never would have asked.

Yea, I miss the simplicity of Win 95.

If you didn't plan to go online, ya it would be great. But there is no way a computer that old could handle the internet today. Videos, complex graphics, not to mention the security. It would probably run slower with a super fast cable modem than it did back in the day with a 56k dial up modem. Don't forget 2gig of hard drive space and 256mb or RAM was awesome in those days.

95 would only support up to 2 Gb hard drives (or partitions). I need much more storage space than that. Seems like I remember having a lot of problems with my CD rom drive dropping out with 95 also.
