I have a piece of plastic that i want to make a mold of. Like a cover for something. I have scrap pieces that i can use to melt and mold, but how do i melt a piece of plastic?

You won't be able to melt it down to a liquid. The best you could hope for is to lay a flat piece of plastic down on a mold of a curved lid you want it to form into, and put it in an oven. It might relax enough to take the shape you want.
