Taking "Triple C's" as you call them, in any way other than the way recommended by the box is bad. People take them to get high on a drug called Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, otherwise known as DXM. DXM is a cough suppressant and related chemically to Ketamine and PCP. DXM by itself is relativly safe when taken in levels that people take in order to get high. ** Unless you're alergic or hyper-sensitive to it (Which is possible..) **

The bad thing about people taking Coricidin to get high, is that it has another drug in it called Chlorpheniramine Maleate. That drug is an antihistimine which is very bad in high levels. It can cause blood pressure issues, heart attackes, strokes, and death. On the Coricidin website it states "People with high blood pressure should be aware that the AHA recognizes that decongestants have been reported to increase blood pressure, and even interfere with blood pressure medicines."

If you want to take DXM to get high, *Which I do not recommend* Robitussin makes a formula called "Maximum Strength Cough" which the only active ingredient is DXM. At least that way you wont have to worry about the heart effects from the Chlorpheniramine Maleate.

Always do your homework on any drugs you put in your body. That way no one is to blame but you. It's very important you know what your taking, and what might happen to you if you dont follow the directions on the box.

Yes, I have tried triple c's. I tried them one time and I will never go anywhere near those things again. I took 16 of them and I went for a wild trip (not a good one either). I just remember the entire time I was "tripping" I honestly thought I was either dying or already maybe even possibly dead. I have never been so scared in my entire life. My heart was beating out of control and my eyes were as big as two baseballs. When I looked in the mirror it scared me because I couldn't even believe it was me. I looked like walking death pretty much. Before trying triple c's all I had ever done was smoked pot, which I use to do pretty much everyday, and I had tried opium once. I just recently quit smoking pot for good though because my parents basically said if they caught me smoking pot one more time they would kick me out of the house. Sorry to get off subject like that, but in a nutshell, triple c's scared me straight. I remember laying there on my friend's bed (when I thought I was dying or already dead), and I said to myself, "God, I promise if you watch over me and help me come out of this alive I will give up all drugs forever. Fortunately, he answered my desperate prayers and saved my life so I've kept my promise to him and I am drug-free to this day. I consider myself very lucky because I'm only 18 (I'll be 19 in 3 weeks) and I've finally matured enough to stop throwing my life away and to put more faith in God. My advice to anyone out there who has never taken triple c's, or any other drug for that matter, don't ever take the first one, because at some point or another they'll mess your life up I guarantee you.

No, I have not taken them.

And, no I would not consider doing so for the purpose of getting high. I lead a "clean" lifestyle, or I try to. No drugs, smoking, drinking, promiscuity (and yeah I know promiscuity isn't really one of those categories but eh...) etc for me. =))

well, i too have taken those damn things
i took 8 and flipped the fuck out
it was the most horrible feeling ive ever had in my entire life, and i will never do them again
it made me feel like i was literally going to die
and i was having bad anxiety problems and sleeping problems for about a week and a half afterwards
i dont recommend taking them, they really do fuck you up, and not in a good way

My little sister who is 16 got in a lot of trouble today because of Triple C's. She and a friend of hers took them sometime last night and by this morning they both were picked up by the police wondering around in someones yard. My mother called me and had me met her at the hospital because we had thought she was over-dosed on some kind of drugs but we did not know what she had taken. When I got there she was talking to people who were not there and telling us things that had no meaning. She was acting totally insane. We had to make her go to the bathroom to try to get a urine sample and every time I would give her the cup she would try to pour it into the toilet (without anything in the cup) and say that it was frozen. Then she got up and started writing with her finger on the wall and when asked what she was doing she turned to the fire alarm and said it was a gate to the parallel universe of good and evil. She thought her IV was a marker and tried ripping it out of her arm. She kept telling my other sister that her nose was bleeding and that there was bugs on my shirt. When asked to take off her shirt she stated that she wanted new carpet. Once we got the drug screen back the doctor said that Xanax and THC was in her system. I dont know if Triple C's would show up on a drug screen but I know that that is what she took because she and I are close and I know she has taken them before. Once we got home we gave her something to eat and she instead tried to eat a paper napkin that came with her food. I dont know when she took them exactly but I have been with her since 9am this morning and it is now 4 am (the next day) and she is just now coming down from them enough to go to sleep.

I video taped her at about 8 pm so she can see how dumb she was acting when she finally comes out of this. I want to post this for anyone who is thinking about taking this things. I am giggling in the video because I could not help it but this is not supposed to be a funny video. I really just want her to see how stupid she was acting and I want anyone who doesn't know what someone on Triple C's would act like to see this so maybe they will not go through the same things as me and my mother have in the past 20 hrs.

BTW Triple C's take way longer than 8 hrs to wear-off.. she had been on them for god only knows how long before the cops found her but I know from 9am in the morning until 2 am the next morning she was acting the same way until we finally got her to go to sleep.

no i have not and would not!! however my 16yr old daughter has used them and i am afraid she still is, drug tests do not detect them and i can't be with her 24hrs a day and i am afraid for her life. she tells me she is not but it's not like i think she would say she was. i am at a loss does anyone have any ideas? if your going to bash my daughter or be rude and hateful please do not respond.

I took triple c's and it was the most horrible thing ive ever done in my life, me &; my friends stole them from a meijers and sense im young, i took 8 of them, my friends have all tooken them before so they took like---10, i was feeling good and tired until i started going over bumpy roads, i threw up and we got caught by the cops, of course they didnt know that we were high off from COLD MEDICINE, but they did take my friend to jail for mouthing off(while on triplec's), I got home and i looked at myself in the mirror and noticed how pale, and how big my eyes were, i couldn't believe it was me! Teens please dont hurt yourself and take this drug, dont, its bad news

i've taken triple C's when i was a freshman... i was very depressed cause i was always made fun of by the cheerleaders... because i was only a base.... ANYWAYS... my friends and i would go down to our local store and steal at least 8-12 boxes of dextromethorphan. i never took more than 8 pills at a time because i knew the side effects of them, and i didn't want that to be me. when my best friend died of them i stopped EVERYTHING. i was scared... it wasn't pretty. dont do them.. PLEASE

However, from reading some of the responses, you'd have to be a dumbass to actually do it. FORTY pills to swallow, just to get a high? Not worth it. I can stare at the sky and spin in circles a hundred times if I want to throw up and wake up with a headache the next morning, thanks.
