In the beginning, it was very important to me. But after a while, I stopped caring since people downrate you anyways if they don't agree with what you say, even if it is perfectly true. So either one stands out of all controversial topics, or one answers the questions one cares about and gets downratings from times to times.

Very important. I feel the Down rating system is totally useless and unhelpful to everyone concerned. If a person does not leave a comment with a reason for the DR nobody learns a thing.
