No. I don't think it is unhealthy for children to play guns.

No, there is nothing wrong with kids playing cops and robbers. As the adults, you are responsible for teaching them safety and rules, bu let them have their imagination.
-
No, as long as the guns aren't harmful or realistic looking.

In ALL honesty: "The powers that be" have been trying to ban toy guns since I was a child - almost 55 years ago. From the time I was 7 or 8, EVERY YEAR, we got ALMOST THE SAME lecture from our teachers around Christmas: "Children/Boys and girls - remember we're starting to collect toys for the poor children of the world. You can bring in almost anything you want, but don't bring in any toy guns or bows and arrows. What did I say?" And we - as the obedient children we were - would repeat it. AND NO ONE brought in any toys which could be thought of as "violent" or "harmful". Little boys having the vivid imaginations they do - will ALWAYS play "Cops and Robbers", "Cowboys and Indians" "Good Guys and Bad Guys", etc. Little girls will ALWAYS play "Nurse and Doctor" with their dolls. This includes wrapping the dolls with toilet paper or tissue, using cotton swabs, etc. Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name! I really don't see anything wrong with them as long as parents do their job and teach kids about violence when they get older. There are worse things. I believe we need to be VERY concerned with some of the video games. We have video games today that are teaching kids it's ok to kill, and rape and whatever else and parent's have no problem with them playing these games some of them from as early as 7 or 8 years old. I seriously doubt any kid who has done a school shooting did it because they played with a toy gun..my point is KIDS are NOT being taught respect for life and there are other things a LOT worse than toy guns.

I think it's a nonsequitor concern.

young children maybe...but as they grow up you can't shelter them from the world and sooner or later there bound to learn that that world isn't always a happy place. ban these toys? sounds more like a judgement for mom and dad rather than congress. and you can't really grand stand on either good or bad / cops or robbers cause when faced with a real gun someday...whats the difference?

Most kids in my area start shooting real guns at 6-8 years of age so I don't really see the harm in toy guns. The attached pic is my neighbors daughter Cheina with her first deer. She has been shooting for 4 years at the time of this picture (last fall). She is 12 not bad considering that is a 30-06 with a specially shortened stock. Hell of a gun for a little girl her size.
