  • 1) Check the jumper on the drive and make sure it matches the setting from your old drive. 2) Test the drive in another computer to make sure IT works. 3) I personally don't see the point of buying a used desktop optical drive. You can get a NEW DVD burner for $20-25, unless the used drive is free or damn near free....it's not really worth it.
  • -- edit... I misread the question -- I think you just need to double check both the power cable, and the CD-ROM drive's slave jumper setting.
