  • Good question, but I think you meant "I've got it covered". I think it comes from the army, when your friends are trapped by the enemy firing at them you can draw attention away from them by firing at the enemy, this is called 'covering fire' (your bullets are like a protective blanket). This phrase has been adapted to suit normal life. Hope that makes sense.
