  • Because Christianity is the most widely practised religion in the Western world (don't quote me on that, though). If the holidays of all religions were taken into account, there would be hardly any days left. You could always ask your school if you can take a day off anyway. You'd have to have some kind of proof that the holiday exists though, and that you practise the corresponding religion.
  • The United States was founded as a Christian country, and the vast majority of the citizens are Christians. Also, be can't celebrate ever holiday in the world.
  • Take days off school then. As long as your doing well in school taking a few days isn't going to kill you.
  • I'm sure you still gladly acceept the days off that you are given.
  • The same reason if you lived in Israel you would get only get Jewish holidays off, and if you lived in a Muslim country (or in the near future, any European country) you would get Islamic holidays off. It is the majority that decides what the holidays will be. Don't be insulted. Just because your religion is not recognized does not mean you are being persecuted.
  • Oh for goodness sake, stop whining.
  • These are the required days off school for holidays * New Years Day * Martin Luther King, Jr. Day * Lincoln Day - sometimes, it is presidents day * Washington Day- sometimes, it is presidents day * Memorial Day * Independence Day * Labor Day * Veterans Day Most have winter and spring break. I see no christian holidays
  • You're actually not, the ACLU has already seen to that- that's why there's now winter break and spring break in place of Christmas and Easter breaks. However, Easter comes from Ostara and Christmas comes from Yule. So, you are actually getting 2 of your holidays off. Now, if you want to take off Samhain or Imbolc or whatever, I'm guessing you probably could ask to be excused for religious purposes on those days.
  • Make your own Hoilday. Who would know? Take it off every year. Make yourself happy, it isn't anything to get insulted over. Just make one up yourself, just for you:)))))))
  • Well, they aren't referred to as Christian holidays at my school. But seriously, even if they are, you've gotta be realistic. If you live in an English speaking country, you also live in a country where the majority of people are Christian. Yeah, it might not be fair for you, but I guess that's just tough titties.
  • I'm Asatru, and don't get my religious holidays off either, short of the ones adopted by Christians. But so what? I get holidays off, and in Canada we have freedom of religion, so that's good enough for me.
