  • I was a non-Mormon once. Actually, after getting out of the Jehovah's Witness faith where my mother made me attend, I started investigating other religions, and I had a lot of questions, and none of them suited me, but I had been brainwashed in the Jehovah's Witness faith to believe all sorts of lies about Mormons, so that was the one denomination I had made a point of not visiting. Years passed, and I became friends with a girl named Christiana, and never bothered to ask what faith she belonged to. Finally I told her I'd been jumping from church to church looking for the one that was right for me, and she suggested the Mormon faith. Well, she had always been so kind to me, so I decided to check it out the very next Sunday, and as I entered the chapel a feeling of calmness entered me that I had never felt at any other church, a feeling of belonging. I still hadn't heard anything to refute the lies I had learned about the Mormon faith, but in that moment I knew the church was right, and I would have been baptized that day if they had let me. Despite all the lies I'd been taught as a child, I still made the choice to give it a chance, and the Holy Ghost came upon me and I knew from the first moment I walked into the chapel that I would join.
  • Yes, I've been to church a few times, bible study, and several field trips (we went to the zoo, it was flippin' awesome! Love the zoo). I'd been to several Christian churches in my community and always felt like an outcast or an idiot because I didn't know the words to 'Jesus Loves Me,' got funny looks when I didn't take Communion, generally felt like an outsider, but the LDS church was so friendly and welcoming (even though they knew I wasn't LDS) that I really enjoyed it. There was actual hand-shaking going on. Besides that, the church itself seemed great (I went on 'fast and testimonial' day and thought the fasting to give others the food you would have eaten was a great idea). All in all it seemed like a great group of very kind, personable people.
  • I went to my sons ceremony before he went on mission. There were no windows, there was a total absence of warmth in the church. There was a total absence of reverence to our Lord. All in all, I never felt such a complete lack or presence of GOD in my life. I would compare it to going to a Amway seminar.
  • My best friend is Mormon and while visiting him one weekend I went to the Sacrament meeting. It really was one of the best experiences I've had visiting a church service before. I particularly loved how all the children were present for the service instead of hidden away in nursery care. Everyone was so genuine and kind. I went on Mother's Day so it may have been a bit different than usual, but I really enjoyed it and have considered seeking out a ward in my area to see if I would enjoy the service as much a second time around!
