Depends on how little they are. I think the chain reaction of Mouse Trap is a good example of the trigger effect. A flashlight might be another way to show the sequential effect. The baby toy that uses shape-matching to put blocks in a box might be a good way to show selectivity of receptors. And as a sweet way to end the lesson, a ice cream cone could show re-uptake.
