  • Try mowing lawns and doing yardwork in your neighborhood. You can also deliver newspapers at 14. Babysitting isn't a bad gig for a 14 year old either. Good luck, with some hard work you'll make it :)
  • legal? i enjoy those commercials on TV - send us your jewelry and we'll send you money. of course, they can't possibly expect even half of it to not be stolen ... if i send them the hope diamond, they'll send me probably $25. you don't tell us anything about you, but, if you're in decent shape, lawn care pays pretty well. younger folks can often earn lots of money "consulting" with older folks and small businesses who don't know how to set up a web page or really use their computer to the max.
  • Since your parents arent buying you the laptop, I would suggest writing a letter to an uncle or an aunt, for some financial support. Say you will pay them back. Tell them it will accellerate your learning in school. and if one agrees, maybe two or three people would contribute. say if one says he cant do the whole amount ask if they would do a third if you could get two other people interested in your future. you would have to get full replacement insurance and agree not to switch laptops for three years. or sooner if you pay off the loan.
  • Call everyone in your parents phone book and ask them if they have any odd jobs you could do and tell them your hourly rate. Good luck!
  • How about you ask your parents to give you a job. Cooking, cleaning, laundry & in return they can give you a certain amt of money per week. They (if they can) might be able to charge one on their credit card & you can work it off. But remember you must do your job EVERY day, even when you don't feel like it. Your parents life will be easier because if they work, they'll come home to a clean house with dinner made
  • Lol at everyone who's praising me for not trying to get it from my parents. They can't afford it either.
  • Well you can get a good one for half that at Best Buy. It won't be the fastest thing around but it will get your stuff done. I would say babysitting and odd-jobs. See if you can make up some business cards or fliers at the library on their computers or use one at Kinkos. Be clever with how you word describe your servces, use some gentle humor and folks will want to have a clever kid like you working for them. Pass those suckers out and get some work done. About two-three weeks of solid work and you should have what you need. You can do it!
  • Buy a used laptop for $250 or a new budget laptop for $500 - this will be enough.
