Entertaining, is as fun for you as the other person! Impressing, is solely for the other person!

I'd say entertaining , like above, is for lots of people. There is no lasting feeling and the next day no one will REALLY remember what that joke was whatshisface said at the party. Impressing is when you try to make an impression on just one person in the hopes they WILL remember that awesome joke you told at the party last night. But then again it would depend on whether you're a performer or not. Good question!

in a competition it is often the winner... i get impressed by anyone that i see practiced something enough for me to say "i couldn't do that" :)
