  • It is the same with all "designer" goods. When does one handbag cost $50 and another cost $400 because it has a designer label. It is not a ripoff, because you have all the information you need to make a choice: there are dozens of cheap MP3 players out there, and you can buy them. Apple spends more on design, and it shows. Apple spends a huge amount on advertising, and cool stores etc. That money needs to be earned back and the unknown-name brands don't need that, Apple makes profits - see stockmarket reports. Al of these push prices up. But it is a free market - any electrical discount store will offer you a dozen iPod competitors at half the price. You arfe free to make your choice,
  • The obvious answer to your whine is: Don't buy an iPod. I buy Apple for style and function. You cannot put a price on style. Your tastes may differ. Please cry elsewhere.
  • Daniela, stop whining. Just don't buy the Ipod.
  • Though I hate Apple products because they nuked my computer with an unnecessary program that revitalized itself within seconds, luckily I found it... but back on the matter, I'd much rather buy an iPod then a MP3 Player. Reasoning: 80GB iPod classic costs $300, 1GB MP3 Player costs $100. Memory in huge bundles is cheaper than small ones, though I don't know why. Though also, a lot of MP3 players ONLY play music, iPods let you play music, movies, games, and now they're letting you go online with them (iPod Touch). That's why Apple iPods are so pricey.
  • I thought so to and bought a mp3 8gb. ipods are way better. on my mp3 i have to click next through every song to get to a song that i like.on ipods you just scroll through and choose whatever song u want. but mp3's are cheaper, so each is good in their own way. i bought a new mp3 8gb for 20 bucks. youll never find a new ipod with that kind of memory for $20.
