yes. LDS is a different branch of Christianity, as are the other religions you named. all Christians, regardless of denomination, believe in the same God.

Weeeelllll... THAT'S a good question. Mormons would have you believe that the Mormon church and religious beliefs are about 'reestablishing' the church of Christ and is therefore compatable with the rest of the Christian beliefs and denominations. A "suppliment" to the other Christian denominations, if you will, instead of a different belief entirely. However, their belief in who God is, who Jesus is, and the Afterlife are most DEFINATELY not synchronous with mainstream Christianity, and it is this which ultimately leads Mormonism to be considered by the rest of the Christian world as a 'cult' vice a viable Christian sect. Among those beliefs is one wherein they believe that we can become Gods, equal to the Father in all respects, and founder of our own world after reaching the afterlife. Mormonism is a complex theology, too complex to try explaining in this forum with my limited understanding of the faith. Suffice it to say that I, personally, do not agree with the Mormon interpretations of the Christian faith. I do have severeal Mormon friends, though. And I will say this: I have yet to personally meet a mormon who was anything other than a fine, upstanding person of good character. A start in understanding the difference on line would be here: http://www.religionfacts.com/mormonism/comparison.htm I leave you to your own resources to further your research.

You tell me..The Catholic and Protestants believe God is a spirit without body, parts or passions, with 3 personalities. Who is large enough to fill the universe, yet small enough to dwell in your heart. And who is incomprehensible. The LDS Church believes in 1 Godhead, made up of 3 separate and distince individuals. The Father and the Son both have Resurrected, Glorified, physical, bodies of flesh and bone, plus a spirit. The Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit in the form of a man, separate from the Father and the Son. The Father's spiritual influence is able to penetrate all His creations at any time He so desires. Much like the Sun's rays are able to penetrate objects millions of miles away. I would have to say there is a slight difference in how God is perseived, between the two factions...whew4

Well, no because the LDS believe each male will become a God themselves in the after life. The rest believe they will be in Heaven as a restored spiritual being.

Yes. Mormonism is quite definitely an 'Abrahamic religion' worshiping the god described in the old testament, just like Christians, Jews and Moslems do (and all their subdivisions). Some christian churches are very eager to 'throw out' the mormons from the fellowhood of being a Christian church. Their stated reason being that Mormon dogma differ from theirs in some instances. And that is true, there are differences. One might wonder though why they do not agitate with equal fervor against Catholics, Unitarians, Lutherans, and every other Christian denomination whose dogma differs from theirs. I guess if they thought they could get away with itm they would, so much for Christian charity and acceptance. regards JakobA
