  • I have heard this dudes name MANY times on AB, but since I don't know anything about him, save maybe a few passing quotes, I can't say I will remember anything about him at all!
  • Did he die? Anyway, I think he is best remembered for the 7 words you can't say on TV.
  • When I discovered him he was doing "The hippie, dippie, weather man". I think that will be it for me. It's a great loss. The man was genius.
  • It is sad to see him gone,as of today, and at only 71.Apparently he has had heart problems for years, and had a heart attack in the hospital .I always liked he edgy humor with politics and drugs.
  • My son loves to watch the movie Cars. George Carlin played Philmore... and he did an awesome job... so that's how I will remember him. I'm very shocked to hear that he died today.
  • I always enjoyed his routine "A Place for My Stuff".
  • Oh man, what a way to find out :( I had no idea... My favorite bit Carlin ever did was this piece on Religion....
  • I just found out that Mr. Carlin has left us. I'll always remember him for his "airline announcements" routine.
  • His crass sarcastic humor that has touched all of us. He was one of my favorite stand up comics of all time. He was best at telling it how it is.
  • The Hippie Dippy Weatherman!
  • Words you can't say on t.v.
  • Oh, Man... I saw this, realized what it was about, and did a quick Google Search - (See http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25322638/ ) George will always be remembered by me as one of my most favoriate comedians of all time. I can STILL say his 7 words, and have quoted parts on HERE (someone asked about the word "tits" LOL) After Class Clown, I went back and bought his earlier albums. He was on par with Queen, in my mind... EVERY album that came out HAD to be bought and played over and over. Hippy Dippy Weatherman The Newscaster The Seven Words You Can't Say on Television (expanded in later acts and albums to hundreds...) The whole Class Clown album The movie roles he was in He will NOT be forgotten by me.
  • for his brutal honesty. My 2 fav bits of his would be 7 words you cant say on TV and his bit about how to get better prisons.
  • For me, his brave, yes brave, take on life. His Hippie Dippy Weatherman, Seven Words you can't say on TV and his bit on "stuff" were all synonymous with his brilliant wit. He will be missed.
  • I will remember his bit on nature and the end of the world. He had so much creativity. Also the bit about no child left behind. Man does he hate children.
  • I wanted to say something about George Carlin being a change agent for stand-up comedy back in the 1960s and the man who opened the doors for much of today's "social commentary" brand of humor. He added .. um .. "an edge" to his topics yet wasn't strident or in a rage. Instead you could see his intelligence and his passion. But he certainly changed stand-up. -- Found a good write-up in TIME this morning that I digitally clipped to save - and will likely journal about at some point. But it's a good answer to your question .. and I agree with it wholeheartedly: http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1817192,00.html -- Didn't realize he was in his seventies! Sorry to hear about his death. :(
  • I'll never forget his bit on the 7 deadly sins and how it could be reduced one deadly sin. I think people will probably remember him for his stand up mainly.
  • He blazed a path for other comedians, and all people when it came to resisting censorship, and being not only free, but proud, to be a non-conformist in all aspects of daily life. and I think he will be remembered most for that. As a fellow atheist, I can't hope he's in some magical place looking down on us, but I do hope that his legacy will live on for a very long time.
  • Being a great great man.
