  • Last time I went to give blood, they said I couldn't until 12 months after my tattoo was done. They will find your blood type out when you give blood, you don't need to know in advance.
  • At least a year.
  • It depends on the tattoo parlor. Some have been inspected for health standards and you can donate blood once the tattoo is healed. All shops should have an autoclave and use fresh needles, but in case they don't, the Red Cross and other places are looking out for the best interest of those they're trying to help.
  • 6 months in the uk,and no you dont have to know your blood type they prick your finger and test it there and then for your blood group and to see if your anemic :)
  • The reason that you have to wait is that sometimes you can be exposed to bloodborne pathogens while getting a tattoo(you shouldn't if the tattoo parlor is clean..but blood banks don't take that risk)it's usually a wait of about 6 months..the reason being that by that amount of time...anything you may have been exposed to will show up when they screen the blood.
  • its has to be a year the same with piercings i wanted to give blood at my college but i couldnt cuz ive had 2 tats and like 8 piercing within the year so i have to wait till next feb :/ my mate couldnt give blood because she was on medication like 2 weeks before the only medication you can be on is the pill apparently
  • Your soupose to wait 12 months to give blood but I did it 7 months afterwards and my blood was fine..
  • Forget about the tat--recent studies show that 90% of people who get tattoos later regret it but will not admit it.
